Kel-Tec Releases Compact 15 round Shotgun

Innovative firearms manufacturer Kel-Tec unveiled their exciting first entry into the shotgun market this past January, just in time for Las Vegas’ SHOT show. The new KSG shotgun features dual tube magazines allowing a capacity of up to 7 rounds each (12 gage 2-3/4″) plus one in the chamber for a total maximum of 15 rounds. with a selector lever located behind the trigger guard that allows the shooter to choose which tube to load each round from. Rounds are both loaded and ejected from the bottom under the stock, behind the trigger assembly. The KSG is designed to be the minimum legal length for this class of weapon and weighs in at just under seven pounds. Kel-Tec also responded to a lot of the initial feedback from the show and have since incorporated a number of intelligent improvements into the gun’s functionality, including an easier slide release, proper trigger reset mechanics, and visual ammo count. As you can see, the KSG includes a standard Picatinny sight rail above the barrel, as well as on the bottom of the forward grip. I really like the front slide grip attachment this allows for. Generally, I’m a big fan of the mechanical simplicity of shotguns, like my Mossberg 590, but I am very impressed with this new model. Kel-Tec has not started shipping the weapon for consumers just yet, but I am looking forward to hopefully getting my hands on one before the Zombie apocalypse.
