Ball Lightning - Anyone else seen this before?

Twice in my life I've seen what untill a bit ago I've been unable to describe. Once while in class I was daydreaming and looked up and saw what looked like the red flame of a match. It floated past me about 3 feet in front and above me then disappeared. I thought it might be the floaters in your eye or that effect you get from rubbing your eyes real hard but the colors are usually blue/black, never flame colored. Nor do they move like that.

The second time was similar except I was in my house during a rainstorm when a similar flame colored/match flame sized ball glided past my head through the room and disappeared.

The picture of the supposed ball-lightning they show does not look much like what I saw but, apparently there's been sighting of ball lightning the size that I've described.

How about you? ever encountered this phenomena?

No, but I have family members and friends who say they've experienced it.

I've read a fair amount about it and although rare and mysterious, I feel that some of the more creative metaphysical explanations are simply standard human reactions to the seemingly powerful and unexplained. I don't feel it's wrath of the thunder god Raijin, but I also don't feel it's completely mythical. There is something there which begs explanation and understanding.

I've heard that is just a condensed build-up of gases and the light given off shows just how condensed it is.
