Krispy Kreme profits way down

In keeping with the proliferation of culinary threads trend . . .

Krispy Kreme's recently released shareholder report shows greatly lowered profits. Analysts blame either the brand losing cult status because of their wholesaling to other stores or they blame the increase in low carb diets or they blame a generally ailing economy due to the current administration. I didn't know Krispy Kreme was exactly a cult brand. Opinions on what would cause such a sharp dip in revenue for the doughnut people? Think a lower carb doughnut would help?

I dont like doughnuts , but Dunkin Doughnuts is infinitely better.
Side Note: Try the Boston/Bovarian Creme doughnuts. They are the best.

I really like Krispy Kreme, but I think it was a bad idea to sell them in stores.

i've never even heard of them :|.........but the name alone sounds nice :)

i think the low carb thing did it. plus the store thing. then theres the low fat thing. the diet thing did it. we do'nt want to be fat antmore so we let go of the tastey stuff that made us that way and started eating popcorncakes. :1orglaugh

kripsy creams are fucking awesome.. but so sweet.. hurts my teeth :(

We just got a KK here in Calgary. They're busy practically 24 hours a day. I've never tasted a better doughnut in my life. And i just like plain, glazed. And for pity's sake don't fill a doughnut with anything and give it to me, or i WILL barf on you.

I think its shares are down because people aren't as enamored with KK as they once were. They're on to some new thing, whether that's doughnuts or not, i don't know.

We all must ban together and help Krispy Kreme...Everyone go out and buy a dozen doughnuts...Then tell everyone you see to do the same...We will start a ripple that will surround the globe (or where ever there is a Krispy Kreme).

I like going to the drive through places where they make the doughnuts and getting them Fresh..Nothing better than a Gooey fresh hot doughnut..
damnit...Now I am hungry time for breakfast....

Exactly...it ruins the brand name and fun of heading there.

i'm the kinda guy that has to put alot of effort into not being a fat pig it takes alot of work...but every sunday i go get a dozen kk's and pig out... :thumb:

Too much expansion too fast. And it probably is a bad idea to sell them outside their own stores.

Being a Canuck, I LOVE Tim Hortons. They're so good! But, I'm secretly having an affair with Krispy Kreme. I think if they want to up their profits, they should start making better coffee. It's a general rule that all donut shops have really crap coffee. It'd really help. Why go to a donut store for good donuts, and then go to a coffee shop for good coffee, when you can just go to one place!

I thought they recently put out a new low carb doughnut.. I can hardly imagine that.

yeah coffee shop coffe sucks, whatt i use to doand since I am back in Ontario is In Toronto stop at Second cup and get one of thier coffee's or Starbucks then drive over to Tim Hortons for a Maple Walnut Danish. I use to do the same thing out west when I lived there Go to KK and then find a coffee shop near the university, then go skateboard at Source....to me there is something nice about chilling out and having a coffee and a treat and talking with my friends...just slow things down a bit.
