I used to use Kazaa! Are there better ones? I'm looking for hard to find video and music files, without too much virus and spyware infection. What do you recomment?

It depends on what you are looking for...if you want Mp3's forget it...they ALL suck now. You're better off just going to AllofMP3.com...at a penny a meg it's the best place to get music online these days.

Given CA has the Three Strikes Law I really don't want to go to jail for 20 plus years for stealing CD's...I could steal the latest prodigy album...or pay 50 cents to 4 bucks (depends on encoding you choose) for it on the above site I mentioned. My theiving days ended when it became a felony conviction for me anyhow.

When I was in gradeschool it was possible...but now with 1001 security camera's all over the place it's just not possible. Plus being mexican pretty much makes me have an uneeded "shadow" around me...it's always nice when security and employee' ask if I "need help"...again and again. Hell one time I just opened my wallet and said I HAVE MONEY!...oddly THAT behaviour is what lead to rob those places blind...ah to be a kid again....

I have used just about all of them from time to time and I have found that BearShare is the best. I always seem to find what I am looking for and very fast downloads.

When I actually had broadband... I used DC++ and eDonkey2000 for the big stuff... DVD rips, game and apps ISOs and CDs.

Always used Kazaa-lite or K++, no spyware or ad banners, for the smaller files... the best way to get MP3s is to search for Albumwraps or ALBW... the entire CD is compressed into a single MP3 track that can be extracted single tracks.

Now I have been using Kazaa Gold and Google, you would be surprised at just what you can find through a simple search engine, SEE my posts in Kidthorazine's thread for details on how to p2p through Google.

I like the Kazaa-Lite,K++ and Kazaa Gold for the lack of the spyware but also for the extra tools included, download accelerator, super nodes, AVI preview (so you can actually check partial movies before you get all of Monsters Inc. mislabeled as Debby Duz Dishes) and a whole slew of helpful and useful items included.

Other than that I use alot of FTP as well... faster transfer and better selection of hard to find files...

Then again, I am stuck with dialup at this time and probably a good thing anyhow... I already have more than a terabyte of files downloaded locally and not to mention the 500+ CD-Rs already burnt and the other 200 ready to be burnt.

Peer-to-peer file-sharing services Morpheus and Grokster are legal, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.

The decision is a blow for record labels and movie studios which sued the peer-to-peer operators claiming that the services should be held liable for the copyright infringement of their users.

    Music: SoulSeek
    Files: Warez

SoulSeek has NO central server. Downloads are quick.
    Warez downloads quickly too.

Some times I'll use Ares or Kazaa. I'll use both if I have to. I want some of the most difficult things to find.
