    Default New Orleans

Wow, am I glad I did not buy property in New Orleans. I need to get out of earthquake territory too though. The gods must be angry. I hope all my friends in the Big Easy are okay.

You might have missed the chance there.

I wanted to visit Hong Kong before it was turned over, but I didn't have the dough at the time.

New Orleans is now under Marshall Law....Its been a long time since the military has had to step in like this....They say the looting is getting really bad and that is one of the reasons why...Also its to keep ppl from comming in and putting themselves in danger....

So when does everyone think that all the levees are going to give way and make Southern Louisiana into a Lake??

Yeah, that's pretty tragic. No telling if they have their sewage system pipes and their storm drain pipes connected into the same system. Houston........we have a mess...

Its times like these when I see those comercials about support a child for 30 cent a day or what ever that I wonder about america and our aid programs...

We have our own disasters...We have all kind of homeless people and we have SOOO many people in need right here in america and still we run to every little third world country whose people do not know how to stop breeding and pumping out children they cant take care of so we rush supplies and money to those areas and ignore our own troubles.

To get help here in america you have to stand around in lines for HOURS AND HOURS then fill out paper work like you have never seen. We have to jump through hoops to recieve help yet our government doles out aid to others and who comes to our aid when we have problems..NO ONE!....

Well I am done venting...I may get slammed but I dont care this is just some of my thoughts...

"So Peter what would you do with a million dollars ??" "Nothing
,absolutly nothing I would just sit on my ass and not do anything " " Shit man you dont need a million dollars to do nothing look at my nogood brother in law he's on wellfair and he dont do shit !!"

people are freaking that there is looting in new orleans now. see this video where they are showing cops looting. i'm sure that is the least of it.

i agree with Asmodeus. we helped a lot with the tsunami and the world kept saying we weren't helping enough. i hate looking at the television and see that we can't get the water off a city actually in American because we sent all our manpower and money to other countries. we need to fix things here.

I saw footage of a shark swimming through the streets of New Orleans. That is so bizarre it seems like cyberpunk fiction where someone was trying too hard.

HK: Actually, it's not changed significantly in terms of sites and sounds so it's never too late to go. The only change I see there is that people are choosing to learn Mandarin more than English. Otherwise, pretty much the same. It's always worth spending 2 days there. Any more and it drives you insane.

I guess I feel the same way about New Orleans... I'm sure with some reconstruction and help from the rest of the world I hope things will work out for the people there. Then, I'm sure it's time to visit again!

that's just ridiculous. listen to yourself, man. people don't deserve to live because they don't have some bullshit peice of paper that says they are a citizen of such and such? there's no difference between you and them. they need food, water, shelter and love just the same as you do. the only difference is that they don't have all the shit that you have that you don't need, and they need help. the reason that they are so fucked up is because of that mindset, no one ever helped them out in the first place.

Mexico it's considered a 3rd world country, we dont' live in mud houses, but some do, but u still can go to a starbucks, and fly first class. But we are 3rd wolrd because there are not enochg jobs and people around here have very low selfestime, so they don't want to go to school and take over the wolrd (technicly speaking), and the ones in the high places rather hire their son in law or the bestmans son or something lika that instead of a better prepaired people. But that doesn't mean we are like everyone else en anyother place like monrnig glory said, i'm not ssaying this because i felt offended or someting, not at all. But i also agree that when you have some problems in this sort of thing you should take them on as soon as posible, and i know they do or at least they give better help than that given to other countries.

I'm getting into a bad inteded discution so this is only a neutral opinion, adnd we should stop arguing about who is who and who gets better help and start helping or at least doing anything you can to help.

It's just that if there was a terrorist attack in DC, they would have military jets and helicopters scrambled and on the scene right away. But in this case, nothing has been done for days. It doesn't take that long to load some helicopters at a nearby military base, and drop in pallettes of food and water. It's the same as Iraq. Poor planning. They don't plan for the future.

One point I was trying to make is this...Yes the people in those VERY poor countries do deserve to live..And no they dont have what I have...But wrap your mind around this thought...If I were married and we wanted to have children I wold probally think to myself...Can I support this child..Will there be enough money, food, clothing, housing if we have this child...BUT these stupid fucking people you see on TV know that they cant support a child..They cant support themselves YET THEY KEEP PUMPING OUT CHILDREN...How many kids do one couple have to have that die b/c of malnutrition Before they say to themselves.."Maybe we should Stop Fuckin"....

Yes it is a pitiful thing that they live in a shitty country and it is also sad that they do not try to do anything about it. And I know what you and some are going to say "Well what are they supposed to do" I dont know but if you are sitting in a pile of shit I would hope you have enough sense to STAND UP...

And the other point is that we keep shoveling out aid and help to other countries in need...What about Americas needs...We have PLENTY of people who are starving, People who are homeless, People living in poverty who actually have a job but it isnt enough and they cant get a better job. AND I know what you are thinking here also..Well these people should help themselves just like those people you see on TV...And you are right...Anyone who is able to work or go to school so that they can get a better job should...But some people are just locked into the life they are in..

I just think that America should look to our own a little more...Not saying we should cut off all aid to other countries but just ease off and leave a little for our people...

no, I'm not saying that they should just help themselves. because it's pretty obvious that they can't. I'm saying be a man and think about someone else for a change. is it really going to hurt you so much to help out someone else if you can?

once again these people DON"t know just as well as you do because their country has no money to spend on teachers and schools and material to educate people. people don't magically know that there is a connection between economics and population growth, they don't know that disease is caused by bacteria and virus that are spread in unsanitary conditons because they don't have a thousand years of medical studies and western medicine. all they know is that when they are about 13 years old there body is bioloically able to reproduce and is telling them that's what they should do. the ones that are a bit more educated are probibly a result of foreign missionaries that tell them once they get married that it's ok for them to have sex and that it's wrong for them to use birth control.

I am truly sad for New Orleans. It was one of my favorite places. I will truly miss the Cafe Du Monde, the absinthe bars, the voodoo museum, the french quarter...it's all gone, gone, gone. It will take years to rebuild what Katrina has done. I feel sad for the people of New Orleans...I'm truly hurt.

I have seen some reports that the actual French Quarter was not hit quite as hard with the flooding and such. Certainly not rooftop levels of water. The city will certainly suffer, but if they can get the Quarter and the casino's and such cleaned up, there could be jobs available, and perhaps tourism. That could really help the city get back on it's feet.

it sucks about new orleans, but bangladesh gets the same thing every year. it sucks that it takes a disaster in your own country to wake up the population. the usa has had terrorist attacks and natural disasters recently, but that shit happens a lot of other places in the world alot more frequently.

    welcome to the club.
