Thread: I'm xssve.

  1. #1

    Default I'm xssve.

Really, no lie - at least some people think so.

Cool nick though, huh? All those hip-hoppers must not have computers - ten million high school kids are wailing and gnashing their teeth.

Not sure how I found myself here, I'm not really Goth, kinda closet Goth I guess. If there were such a thing as culture where I grew up I'd probobly have been a Goth - definitely have that Byronic alienation thing going, but I was a total failure at piercing.

    I don't write poetry though.

    How are you all doing?

Actually, I'm an artist - I was reading Maddox's critique of Goths on the best page in the Universe - yeah, I just found that webite last night, I usually surf porn, haven't been on a google safari for a while - anyway, his critique complained that the... whatever you call it, lifestyle, style, whatever - was nothing but an aesthetic movement, and I thought: so what? Christ, if I could think of three political people who had the faintest idea what they're talking about - well, Maddox wouldn't be one of them, although he is a funny motherfucker.

Shit, politics has become nothing but style anyway: politics is style, style is politics - just more fun - See what I mean? You guys knew that though, I'm guessing.

No big, just thought I'd mention it.

Anyway, back to the artist thing, I'm sort of starting a new career as a comix artist, and I'm always looking for stories - I noticed stories mentioned somewhere, so here I am.

Actually, I think I was googling the term "slut" which is weird, because of my googling up that Maddox thing last night, and now here I am on a Goth site - by way of Retail Slut, if you must know - must be a sign of some sort.

Sooo... I might eventually contact some of you about your stories, although I don't knwo ho many there actually are: I'm sort on an an erotica/porn kick right now, kind of a challenge, so if you have anything you might be interested in seeing drawn out in Black and White, don't hesitate.

Being porn, and me being a guy, I can pretty much make that shit up as I go, but I think it would be more of a challenge to actually do something with some character development and introspection, broken hearted angst, etc. to punctuate all the fisting and gang banging - or vice versa - you know stuff that requires some actual literary talent. So, if you have anything like that...

Guess that's it for now, I'm gonna go comment on that mammary thread.

    Ciao.

I always want'ed to do a comic book. But the main hold back was that my idea was to over blown. I wanted to do every frame as a wall hanging in oils. That way, I could publish a graphic novel and have a gallery opening, they would create publicity for each other. But I never made the time. And kinda funny, I never had a story.

Thank you gentlemen - and that is a fucking brilliant idea Jebadiah, you ought to do that quick before I cop it - don't tell me you can't hack out eight pages of pathos and thwarted passion and general weirdness - you might even stand to actually make some money at it if you did that.

So what kind of comix would you people like to see - romance, modern romance, adventure, fantasy, slice of life, superhero, combinations of any or all of the above?

Welcome aboard! Being a comic book self publisher myself, i always perk up when others mention it.

Before "heroes" we had "the night gallery" as far as paintings surrounding characters and influential of a story...so the idea itself is older, much much older, than "heroes". We won't even go into the books of Dave McKean.

i like the smiley faces that drink beer. heck, most of the animated ones look like their on crack in some degree anyway.

    Again, welcome aboard!

Oh come on, its just a simple idea.
This is one time I say who cares how original the idea is, 1 + 1 = 2. The first time I saw a graphic novel ( does 1990 sound right ), it was like gee, some of this stuff would be nice on the wall, and so 1 + 1 = 2.

i agree, Jebadiah. My point was just that: It's not all that original, however some REALLY cool things have come from other people's "takes" on an idea. Yours is a really good take and SHOULD be done.

True, it's an incestuous medium, and doing anything remotely original and creative is made all the more difficult when terms like "superhero" itself are copyrighted property (Marvel).

But the general consensus is that it's not so much what you do as how you do it: like the blues, there is endless variation possible within a set of confined parameters. In fact you can do a lot more with comics than you can with film for instance - surrealism works a lot better for example, and doesn't require a huge special effects budget.

Everything has "been done" in fine art as well, insofar as putting pigments down on canvas - doesn't mean everything has to look like everything else.

The medium is about storytelling first and foremost, and there ar e a million stories in the big city - heh, even clichés can be recycled for retro effect.

It looks like a kick'n comic there Vinyl Cowboy, B&W rocks. I'll place and order with you when I get my post-holidays financial situation straightened out.

Jebidiah, I liked your story in erotica, if I had any idea how to adapt it to a visual medium, I would.

Diin't get any feedback on what kind of comics people read - nobody in here reads comics?

Hey, what a coincidence, I love mammaries too. Welcome to Blue Blood. Are you sure you've never written goth poetry, not even as a Byronic teen?

No, sadly, it's one of the things I simply have no particular natural inclination or aptitude for, my mind works in very literal and objective circles - it's both a gift and a curse, which you'll soon discover if you read that particular thread. On mammaries.

I have been brushing up on my literary theory, fatal flaws, plot as catalyst, etc., but so far nothing particularly compelling has made it onto paper.

I'm a big fan of banter, so I tend to overdo it in that department, I'm really stuck more on motivation, which is why I'm interested in collaborating - it's an interesting problem interpreting someone elses work, gets me out of my head some.

Somewhere, I do have this cool DHTML script that would work well with poetry.

Watch me jump aboard with the "loves lenore and johnny the homicidal maniac" comics.

Never really got into anything else, though a good slab of really fucked up manga/hentai is always good for a laugh, and occassional sick feeling.

Nice intro btw. I'm kinda "closet goth" myself as you would say, but that's changing quickly with a few more items to my closet, and I've started taking up make up as well.

OH, should probably profess my love for Nickelodeon cartoons, I prefer those to comics cause I can put them on brainlessly. You know, Invader Zim, Fairly Odd parents, that sort of thing.

I used to know a guy who was doing some great Johnny/Zim type stuff - I dunno what happened to him - too many guys get hung up with the whole superhero business and forget to just create for the hell of it.

Here's a link to a pretty cool DHTML script, sort of what I was playing with way back when - only works in Internet Explorer unfortunately, hafta complain to the Mozilla guys, you can do some crazy stuff without flash.

Ummm .. interesting. I must say, that's the first time I've opened internet explorer since I had to download Mozilla from it so that her new computer was using decent software haha.

Nice music, don't get it though haha.
