Big Rat O' Doom, as it is doomilicious?
The Brain, as it is always attempting to take over the world?
Generic Gothic Pet Name, to seperate yourself from the crowd?

    personally, i like Crowbait.

Vermin (Vermina if it's a girl rat)
    Ratenstein
    Count(ess) Ratula
    Furbite
    Bubonic

    I kinda like Crowbait, too.

A friend of mine has named his past cats after angels and demons or "gothic icons".

He's had Azrael, Gabriel, Lucretia, Elvira and his present cat is called Ba'athazar, or just Ba'al for short.

Bubonic is fantastic! as are crowbait and homicide the rat... oooooh chosing names is so hard!

Also i rather like fetus, but im not sure that would sit very well on a creature with fir... better perhaps on one of those mexican hairless dogs... kinda cute, kinda uggly but all fetus.

We found two kittens on the side of the road at one stage (bout a year ago) they had been dumped, and not being completely heartless we took them in.

One we called Emo, because she was really sad all the time, and tended towards picking fights with larger things (now she is really lovely so the name was shortened to Mo)

The other 2 had stripes so we called the one with the stripes on her face Ticki (sort of like fairys for the moari people of NZ, they have swirling facial tattoo) and the other became Cheshire because she has big stripes on her back and tail like the cat from Alice.

if it's a female, or even if it isn't, you could call it Moronica.

My big black boarder collie irish setter mix is named Salem. (Yes after Sabrina the teenage witches cat.) Her sister a white and black boarder collie is named Kenai after one of the indian brothers in Brother Bear. (Yes I know all the humans in that movie were indians ...I'm going on the premise there that not everyone here has seen that.

Had an acquaintance who called his cat Regicide. Don't know if that would apply to your rat baby, but it's another suggestion to consider.

See, that's why I offer no explanation. Isn't it cooler to try to guess whether I was referring to the bible, body parts or both than realizing it was just a throw away line from The Big Lebowski?

    boys names:
Apsu (the river of the underworld)
Akuma (Demon with a flaming head, fiery eyes and swords)
Puck (aka Robin Goodfellow is a mischievous nature spirit in pagan mythology)
    girls names:
Persephone (married Hades and is queen of the Underworld)
Bast (ancient solar and war goddess, means "devourer"
    Medusa

Interesting, Tigerlily, that you picked Bast as one of the names for a female rat, as that belongs to the ancient Egyptian cat goddess(didn't know it meant "devourer", for which I thank you for that tid-bit of information), and might, at first, seem inappropriate to give to a member of a species that has traditionally been one of those devoured by Bast's children.

But, then again, I suggested the name of a tom-cat once owned by an acquaintance of mine, so, in thinking about it, your suggestion doesn't seem that off after all.

well our little black ball of feline adorable/evil is called Nocturna, which is fairly gothy.

my girlfriend had a show rats named Lillith and Jadus, also fairly gothy. but girliy goth names are easier to come up with for some reason...
