Preacher from DC/Vertigo is a great start

    Transmetropolitan from DC/Vertigo

Anything by Paul Pope is always fun.

The SIN CITY series by Frank Miller along with his Classic The Dark Knight Returns

There are tons I can recommend..but it really depends on what you are into.

Very good series...the same team was also behind Hard Boiled...Geoff Darrow has been kinda hard to find these past years since he was busy doing concept art for the Matrix Movies...and I think he had a hand in animated series of Big Guy...I wonder what he's up to these days.

I have every issue of that........... great series.

Also check out "The Adventures of Barry Ween: Boy Genius" absolute funniest fucking comic I have ever read, you can pick up the trade paperbacks pretty cheap. This was Judd Winnick's work before he started doing Green Lantern.
Plus JTHM has the best intro for a character ever (WHERE THE FUCK IS THE BACTINE?)
As a gamer I'm also partial to Knights of the Dinner Table and Dork Tower.
Also check out Preacher, 30 days of night, Lucifer, and if you can find the trade papers of Sandman I HIGHLY reccommend them.

Everytime I look at this topic I keep wanting to suggest my favourite book, The Sins of Rachael Ellis, but it's not a comic. Try reading it any way if you find a copy. Great book.
