Hermaphrodite is a derogatory term. I don't know any INTERSEX people who refer to themselves as "hermaphrodite." Also, San Francisco is the only city I know of that:

(A) the city/county (same thing) health care plan covers sexual reassignment surgery for its employees (if you're into that sort of thing. I'm in the anti-surgery/hormones camp, but to each their own) and

(B) operates on a self-identification basis of gender identity (restrooms, locker rooms, etc.) and promotes INTERSEX rights.

I learned this in a law school seminar on transgender legal issues/rights movement. Thank you for helping bring awareness to this often-overlooked gender equality issue.

LADY GAGA - went on The Matt And Jo Radio Show in Australia and because Aussies are cool/drunk, they asked her straight out if she was a hermaphrodite.
