Default Would you risk death to be more beautiful?

Many varieties of plastic surgery involve general anaesthesia. Every time you are given a general, there is a possibility of death, although not a large one. A variety of medications called I think biologics have come out to give people better skin. These dermatological wonders can actually put even a tough skin problem such as psoriasis 100% into remission, so that those who take biologics can end up with perfect skin. They are contraindicated for those with recent infections, however, as the side effect for a person who needs their immune system may be death. Some kinds of heavy exercise will make your body fabulous, but, if you have a genetic history of certain sorts of heart defects, will make you much more susceptible to dropping dead of a heart attack at a very young age. Etc.

Would you risk death to be more beautiful? How much of a risk would be acceptable?

Sure. Death is a very comfortable thing to risk; you either live with the benefits or never notice it went wrong.

How much of a risk would be acceptable? Well, I've got a fairly decent skin as is. But if I could be guaranteed something major like a perfect skin for the rest of my life including permanent and invisible elimination of all undesired hair and some sort of resistance against tanning/sunburning and unsightly allergies, I'd cheerfully risk something like a 5-15% chance of death.

Less magical absolutes of improvement less than proportional value from me though, since it's just a lot less fun to say 'I've got much improved skin' than 'I've got perfect skin'.

There are risks of death every day.
You are much more likely to die every time you get in a car.

So if it's worth the risk, because you will love the benefit, then fine...

I think the main issue with cosmetic stuff, is the fact that you are in a losing battle against time and aging. So you will never "win" the battle. So I think at some point you need to accept the aging process.

I think it makes a lot more sense when people fix something permanently, like when they get a nose job or something. It's done, and never has to be re-done. Where other "anti-aging" stuff seems to be an ongoing process that has to keep being re-done...

no. I'm happy the way I am. I'd consider getting my boobs done if they start sagging, but I'm allergic to most western medicine, there's a chance I'd be allergic to the anesthesia. its not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Well, logical consideratinon aside, I'm so scared by the entire concept of "not to be" behind death I'll never take that as a risk!!

Then, as an ex anorexian, I came to know that accepting yourself is just a mind-question, no matter how much "miracolous" plastic surgery you can go through

This is true, but cosmetic surgery isn't necessarily about accepting yourself. You may like yourself just fine and simply see it as a goal for improvement, realization of a potential that's greater than your current state, despite your current state's perfect respectability.

Depends on the person I suppose and who/what they leave behind if it goes wrong.

Unless you're truly fucked up looking, I see no reason for plastic surgery. Gotta love who you are. I understand the necessity of plastic surgery due to some skin disorders, though. It's one thing to be naturally average looking and another to be someone who'd look totally hot, but not, because of a skin condition. I knew this girl once who when she was younger she had TERRIBLE acne. After it cleared up, her face was sooooo scarred. But you could tell if she had some "cleaning up" done of the skin, having to do with plastic surgery, she would have been fuckin' hot as Hell. For something like that...Sure, but as for using plastic surgery out of shear laziness or because you want to look like your plastic like most commercial porn actresses or someone who now looks like a fuckin' alien like Joan Rivers or Michael Jackson...The answer is no. I can understand getting a boob job because of "sagging" like Voltaire stated, because no matter how much of a health regiment you do, boobs mostly are fat glands...But just because you don't really like what you were created with...Nah. Love who you are. Out N in.

I'd rather risk death to risk death. The activity is its own reward!

Besides, at my age I've already gracefully accepted the fact that I'll never again look as good as I used to.

why not just go the full monty and kill yourself? then they can do whatever they want to to rearrange your organs and not have to worry about any of the pesky limitations involved with keeping you alive or avoiding sawing you in half, shit like that.

then they can stuff you and have you mummified and you will be beautiful for all eternity. what more can you ask for out of life? happiness? love? psh. it's better to have people that don't give a shit about you think that you're hot.

oh yeah, and even if nothing can be done for you, there's always necrophiles that will be into you.

Once you get plastic surgery, you'll want more.

Since I've been told I'm pretty decent looking, no reason for me to risk anything to improve my looks. Beside that my face got beaten on way too much, so any surgery I got would end up get ruined within weeks lol

Let me try to find this document on a lady who was addicted to plastic surgery. It wasnt pretty!
