Long before some reporter describe punk Siouxie Sioux’s music as “gothic” another group was running around singing about murder, suicide, sadness and just not fitting in, country singers.
If we are honest, 6 out of ten self-professed goths (as if anyone ever admitted to being goth) listen to Johny Cash sing about killing a man in reno, and Bobby Gentry was being Fancy and throwing babies off of bridges long ago.

But in a scene where people have a hard enough time decided what is or isn’t goth, is there room for Nashville country? In the end, it doesn’t matter since this was all a thinly disguised excuse to post Amy LaVere’s Killing Him and indulge my fetish for women playing stand-up bass.
