Icon of Coil at Bar Sinister

A little while back, we brought you studio shots of the sexy frontman of Icon of Coil, so we figured we would bring you a few live action shots of him performing. Metropolis recording artist Icon of Coil just did a knockout show at Tricia La Belle's Bar Sinister. Tricia gets a lot of cool acts to perform in the Boardner's club space, but Icon of Coil did one of the most amazing shows I have seen there.

I was standing around after their set, thinking how great it was, when I overheard two rivethead-looking guys talking about how it was one of the best shows they had ever seen at that venue and it was so totally ten years ago. I wouldn't call the sound retro, but Icon of Coil would have been huge during the whole Wax Trax thing. I'm hoping my musical tastes are law and they are huge now.

Among the celebs in the audience were Lord Spanky and Mistress Victoria Kalimata of Spanking Machine. They told me that they had seen Icon of Coil play to thousands in Germany. Darn those Europeans for always being ahead of us on these things.

I admit that Forrest Black and I photographed Andy Laplegua largely because he is a mighty handsome man and because our lovely Blue Blood model Kellie was up to the task of doing a really kickass interview with him and he has interesting things to say. I enjoyed the Combichrist show when Andy Laplegua came through Los Angeles a while back, but the Icon of Coil show at Bar Sinister just blew me away. An evening that actually got me excited about gothindustrial music again.

To complete the evening, Blue Blood Scar was shaking her booty above the crowd. Always a good thing when the people I like are supa dupa talented!
