A thread for being new.
Hello and Good Day to you all,
My name is Josh, I frequent the online handle, "Unforgiven", I am 17 years old (about to be 18 next week) and I'm a frequent roamer of forums. I reached Blueblood through VampireRave and the forums looked active so I've decided to poke my head in and see how it's going.
My main hobbies are listening to music and playing video games, but I also like sitting under pretty trees and looking at the sky or sitting in a graveyard thinking about things, it may sound kind of stupid.. but I thoroughly enjoy it.
A few of my favorite bands would be Meshuggah, Behemoth, Decapitated, Behemoth, Mozart, and Children of Bodom, but I'll also listen to techno or old-school rap (Coolio, a tribe called Quest, etc.)
This has been my brief introduction and I hope to fit in.
-Josh

Re: A thread for being new.
Welcome! Its always nice to have another metal fan on board... I saw COB last year (year before that?) in concert and I'm pretty sure I saw Decapitated too...
-
Re: A thread for being new.
Thank you for the welcome, and yes, it is always nice to have a few metal-heads that know about the bands you're talkin' about. :D
-
Re: A thread for being new.
Oh yeah.. Dethclock is playing a show next month, THAT would be awesome
-
Re: A thread for being new.
Ahh yes, Dethklok, the "most brutal band in the universe", I wouldn't mind seeing them in-concert, but I think I'd be let down in the end because I'd expect to see Toki and Skwizzgar on stage.. but it wouldn't be them. :(
I like that silly accent of theirs.
-
Re: A thread for being new.
COB are really good live, I saw them at Sweden Rock Festival :) I can recommend Opeth too, if you haven't heard.
Welcome!
-
Re: A thread for being new.
You know they say Toki is based partly on Mikael Akerfeldt, which is probably why I love him so much... Skwizzgar is pretty awesome too, but Toki is not a bumblebee ;)
-
Re: A thread for being new.
I have heard of Opeth, my favorite song by them would have to be Harvest, something about the song really relaxes me and I can just think the thoughts of the universe in a pristine state.

Re: A thread for being new.
I love Opeth, I saw them last weekend. New album next month!
Harvest is a great track, Blackwater Park is my favourite album I think...The Drapery Falls is amazing

Yeah, each of the members seem loosely based off of people in real-life bands, for example.Toki (Fredrik Thordendal) of Meshuggah, Pickles (Devin Townsend) of Strapping Young Lad, Nathen (George Fisher) of Cannibal Corpse, Murderface (Geezer Butler) of Black Sabbath, Skwizzgar (Alexei Laiho) of Children of Bodom.
Just a random guess, but I think it makes sense.

Re: A thread for being new.
Oh! Speaking of the metals, have you seen the documentary 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey'? Who am I kidding, of course you have, well anyway the guy that made it, Sam Dunn, made a follow-up 'Global Metal' which is out sometime soon...I cant wait...
Ahh, I love talking shop
-
Re: A thread for being new.
I have in-fact seen it, my favorite quote would probably be..
"Ever since I was 12 years old I had to defend my love for heavy metal against those who say it's a less valid form of music. My answer now is that you either feel it or you don't. If metal doesn't give that overwhelming surge of power that make the hair stand up at the back of your neck, you might never get it, and you know what? That's okay, because judging by the 40,000 metalheads around me we're doing just fine without you." - Sam Dunn

Re: A thread for being new.
That was a great way to sum it up...
I believe Dunn actually lives in the same area as me, or did, I'd see him all the time a while ago...
-
Re: A thread for being new.
So....
What do you do for fun?
(I'd ask something else, but it's 2:41am here and I'm running out of good conversation starters.)
-
Re: A thread for being new.
Well, I lead a pretty boring life actually...
Mainly, I dye my hair alot (was blue, now its black, and probably will be for the next while...hmm, I should update pics) and I like to cook/bake alot...especially cakes. If one wants to be my friend, you'd better like cake, cookies, candy apples and all sorts of goodness.
I don't understand people who don't like food. Honestly.
Ooh, and I like stomping around in my big boots and scaring the minivans out of soccer moms :P
Its 3 50 am here

Re: A thread for being new.
Hah, my life may be more boring than yours.
I walk around with friends doing random things, it's a lot more boring than it sounds.
I like cake and cookies, but if you really want to get to my heart.. pumpkin pie will do it and do it quick.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. :D

Re: A thread for being new.
Nyaar... I'm not really a metalhead myself, but Dethklok makes me squee. Err... brutally squee, I guess. Is that even possible? Pickles is totally my favorite, but then I love drummers in general (Mike Shinoda, anyone? Way hot.) I love Toki, too.
Welcome fellow new person! I like you already, because pumpkin pie is the runner up to 42 as the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

welcome fellow metal head..lol

Re: A thread for being new.
Heya. I listen to metal occasionally. I had to buy a double drum pedal just to hit some of those riffs.

Indeed, welcome and stuff! :)

Re: A thread for being new.
Graveyards are spectacular places imo. I even own part of one (albeit my own plot for future use ;) )

Re: A thread for being new.
I dont mind a plot, and a headstone for remembrance...(in the family cemetery)
But I cant stand the thought of ME in a BOX.... PERFECTLY PRESERVED... OR the thought of an AUTOPSY to tell my family all the drugs I've done....lol
Does a corpse freeze when the weather gets cold.... then thaw, then freeze then thaw?
I've always wondered this... and it freaks me out.
