Introducing myself, of course.
Hello there! I am a dark art/fetish model ( unnamed intentionally for now) based in Philadephia. I spend allot of time on the internet...surprise. I decided to join the forum to reach out to more people within the community. I could write out a long drawn out post about myself but I'd prefer to leave it at this and let people ask me questions, its more fun that way. ^_^

Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Welcome. I used to road trip to Philly from time to time, mostly for SF cons, when I lived in the DC/Baltimore area. I think all the places on South Street that I went to are long gone now, but I really need to do a more extended East Coast tour and check it out. Any places you particularly recommend?
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Welcome to a fellow Filthadelphian.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Yeah, South Street's been basically gutted for all it was worth and turned into a bunch of chain stores like the Gap and Net and other shit. But the Gap's gone under and Net never seems to have any customers and it seems like the pendulum might be swingin' back to the other side.
But hell, Mako's will never get back to it's former shit hole bar brawlin' glory.

What's Net? I don't think we have that chain on the West Coast and I am definitely not going to try googling the word Net because that would be like in Mission Impossible where Tom Cruise googles JOB and fucking finds what he was looking for.

Re: Introducing myself, of course.
I know the go-go girls from Mako's HorrorFX, they're good people.
As far as South street goes I didn't know it in its former glory so I'm not the best authority on that. I've only been up here for about six months( I move around allot), and even had I been up here I'm still quite young and wouldn't have been able to experience much. I'm little :)

more mysteriousness(i guess thats a word?)..lol

Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Net's an "Urban Fashion" store. 90 dollar tshirts with 3 dollars in silkscreening on them to make you look like a money makin' thug from the streets yo.
Reason they're dyin' is that thugs from the streets tend to prefer shoplifting and so do the posers who just wanna look the part. Least that's what my buddy who used to work there tells me. Said their lost reports looked pretty close to their packing slips on delivery day.

You know Anna? We haven't talked much but we've had a few conversations about some books she's caught me reading and whatnot. I agree, good people.

I would have gone with simply "mystery" but hey, potato, potato.
Okay, so that particular cliche doesn't do so well in text form...

That sounds like some painful shrinkage. Is it like an econo Ed Hardy/Christian Audiger? You have those there?
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
mmm, yes it probably is. Oh well. I must just be a rebel without a cause. Damn my generation and its shenanigans....

For painful shrinkage we Philadelphians go to the Jersey shore in February....oh wait you were talking in terms of......shit, forget I said anything.
As for Ed Hardy, we have Sailor Jerry. He's more east-coast and he's credited as one of, if not the first person to bring tattooing to America. It's kinda disgusting how his estate is slapping his name on overpriced, hipster clothes but if there's one thing they've done that I agree with, it's producing his recipe for rum and distributing it. I don't know if you're a spiced rum fan, but if you are, hunt some of the stuff down. It's my absolute favorite.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
I worked on fixing up Sailor Jerry's old location in Old City...the place was a disaster zone and completely unsafely wired. Hah. They moved to 13th street I think.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Yeah, I work right around the corner from their new place. Where was the old spot? I thought 13th was their first store.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Their first spot was 38 N 3rd street.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Huh, surprised I never noticed it on my trips to Sugarmoms.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Yeah, well their location now is allot more central.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Strippers strip, dancers just dance, I feel that saying you are a dancer is an attempt to mislead yourself into thinking you aren't really doing what you are. Saying you a performer or entertainer....is a bit better but still seems a bit inaccurate. I worked for a short time a Club Pussycat in Baltimore, and was going to work at Risque but my health problems have prevented that.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Oh okay, so nowhere in Philly then. Guess we wouldn't have any mutual friends.
I agree with you about that dancer thing. When I bounce at the bars I work at I don't tell people that I'm a "Customer liason" or an "entryway specialist".
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Risque is in Philly....:P

I know. But you said you didn't work there so it doesn't really count does it?
Also, I don't know anyone from that particular club so it wouldn't matter either way.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Oooo.... dark art/fetish model. Sounds like my cup o' tea.

I auditioned there, and know several girls who work there. *Shrugs* C'est la vie.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Guess that gives you a leg up (pun intended) on me then. :-P
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
If you're into that sort of thing. I'm not really into the typical stripper type, and even though I was marginally successful, I myself wasn't the typical stripper. Anyway I don't know if I'd go back to it. It was just a small chapter in my life...much more to life than that.

Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Greets :) Was in PA for several years. Has an odd charm to it despite everything.

Re: Introducing myself, of course.
'Ello. I'm new too. Damn you, you're thread got more hits then mine.... It's just cause you were a stripper, and a fetish model!
Even SOCIALISM can't beat that!
But good on ya, for not sugar-coating the whole "I'm a stripper!" thing.
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
Howdy, nice to meetcha!
Pick up some scrapple for me at the Terminal Market.
One of these days I gotta get out of central Jersey and finally go to the Mutter Museum.

Nah, it wasn't because of that. It's because I like people from Philly more than Canadians...
-
Re: Introducing myself, of course.
But... but... Canadians have Bacon, Lumberjacks, and Montreal, which is FULL of strippers and bikers, and comedians! EVERY loves us!
You... you hurt me.... on the inside...
Anyway. Philly, eh? I could never figure out where exactly that was.
