Mozilla sets Guinness World Record with Firefox 3 launch
The launch of the open source Firefox 3 web browser has set the new Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours. Mozilla's mirrors served 8,002,530 complete, individual downloads during the download day event following the official release of Firefox 3 last month.

BS like this means I'm going to be using the fabulous new Internet Explorer a lot in the near future. WTF is wrong with people that they think this is the right way to promote? Does anyone really think the audience is so stupid they believe someone would join a forum and have this be their first post by accident?
Re: Mozilla sets Guinness World Record with Firefox 3 launch
ironically enough, IE keeps crashing out on my PC. and i do like mozilla's speed dial plugin
but virus writers will always want the bigger audience.
i thinks its time to move to a new browser
Re: Mozilla sets Guinness World Record with Firefox 3 launch
I'm fairly certain it's not actually firefox's promotional team spamming this stuff; just enthousiastic fanboys taking it on themselves to spread the good word.
That said, firefox is pretty awesome, and despite its recent massive increase in popularity respresents a victory of alternative, anarchically structured open-source quality over the appeal to thoughtless acceptance of the existing standard by monopoly-abusing commercial giants. Going with IE to go against the flow would be sortof like those twats you get saying that by dressing perfectly blandly they're non-conforming with the fashion of nonconformity.
