"Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I like the song "I Kissed a Girl"...and I think Katy Perry is so cute, and bubbly.
I think she looks a lot like Zooey Deschanel... Oh gosh, how I'd love to see her kiss THAT GIRL... haha.
What do you think?
(I esp cant wait to hear from BP on this one)
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
that song fucking sucks and has been done before in the 90's and it sucked then too.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
no offense but you asked what we all thought.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Maybe I should clarify, I meant do you think she looks like Zooey Deschanel?
FTR, isnt a remake of the Jill Sobule song. (that sucked)

Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Man that song brinks back so many bad memories

How so? AND which one?
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I know it's not a remake of the song, but it's a remake of the concept. both songs blow ass. I hate pop music. does she look like said celebrity in question? I don't know that much about zooey, so I can't say.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I'd like Voltaire to stop pussyfooting around and tell us what she really thinks ;)
I heard the song while being jostled by lesbians on the dance floor at the local gay bar. All I can say is... when I was growing up most of my friends were lesbian, and what really got under their nipples and gave em a right good twist was the whole "giggle giggle, look at me, I'm a faux bisexual, wanna make out?" crowd. And that whole "I kissed a girl and I liked it" was kind of to lesbianism what Britney Spears (in her oops I did it again Catholic Schoolgirl biting her fingernail phase) was to erotica. If the song had been "I like to bump cunts and if you don't like it, fuck you" I'd be blasting it out my bedroom window night and day.
I don't know the girl from Eve, and it's not really my sort of music (I'm mostly down that place for the aerobic workout of dancing my cute tight buns off) but my take is, if it floats yr boat, meh.
And I would happily cover Zooey in whipped cream and lick her to death.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I've actually heard that song........................if the radio was mine I would have put it out of it's misery
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I really had thought it was a cover of the Jill Sobule one (1995), which I like much better.

Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I hate that song. A friend of mine has it set as her ringtone and every time her damn phone goes off I get that song stuck in my head. GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!! I hate it.
The DJ at my bar (god bless you Nate but it's gotta stop!) sometimes plays it as a joke and we sit back and have a good laugh and the Palace (crappy ass top 40 type bar upstairs) tarts who go bonkers and jump up and down dancing to it.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Mystoo, I can totally understand how that could be aggravating.
I guess what I like most, is how she looks, and I'm all into the matchy matchy attraction like I've listed above... I'd like to see Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel KISS...
There's definitely something irritating to the song, note I didnt say I LOVED the song... I like it. The stuff I like is her pronunciation, and something about her voice, I cant exactly put my finger on.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
That's cool OK, i just had to rant for a sec.
I do admit to occasionally gettin my groove on to Gimme More by Britney Spears. Everyone's got something:)

Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I'd rather see someone be open minded and have expansive tastes, than to be close minded and pigeon holed into ONE genre.
I love dance music. I used to dance a lot when I was a kid, rather well too according to my varied audiences, then I got into head banging stuff, and it totally changed my rhythm... I lost my ability to dance... until I started getting back into other genre's. I love latin influenced music... and a lot of hip hop, as well as the infused heavy stuff (i.e. White Zombie, and so on)
I like music in ALL KINDS of forms. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is incredible (thats one of the most extreme examples)... Try the song Taa Deem Remix.
I dont discriminate... I do have songs I like better than others... I prefer heavier music... but just like seasoning, it can be over done. ANY of it can be over done..
(NOTE: This isnt a dig, nor is it directed to anyone in particular...this is a GENERAL statement, be who you are and be happy with it.... my statement is directed to those who FEEL the need to maintain a stereotype even if it goes against what they truly like, just to fit into an image)

Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
cant say i know the song.
i dont dislike pop music. i dislike songs void of any emotion.
music should be full of it, enough to sway.
hence my tastes range from aqua (sorry Voltaire), to some of the soviet Propaganda stuff (really does flatten you with awe), and some weird stuff in-between (the dead milkmen, tom waits, the small face's Ogden's Nut Gone Flake Album)
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
aqua is okay because they joke around a lot. I started listening to jazz 4 years ago, and never looked back. the truth is I haven't liked very much at all in the way of new music in the past 8 years. I just really detest that bubblegum faux lesbian trash. it's in insult to real lesbians IMHO, and I really hate most pop music. i'd rather listen to country........ which I am able to tolerate these days and even like some of it....
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
i wish i had your patience with it there's a guy i work with who likes it, but tbh i think its more of his deep monotonic sing along...

I couldnt agree more.
I *DO* like Jazz, and am open to suggestions.
I also LOVE anything that I can feel... Headwreck, I appreciate the suggestions. If you've checked out my thread "Wikipedia YOUR town" You'll see that I get almost NO outside musical influence, as everyone around here are cookie cutter copies of their great grandaddy's papaw.
Its still the 1950's around here....but aching with BLUEGRASS!!!!
(I do like some country, and bluegrass, but like you put it best, it has to be chocked full with emotion)
I honestly cant wait to check out the music you've listed above.
Gosh, I didnt know what hit me when I found Jeff Buckley. I went into a cave for over a yr... and came out a different creature.
I couldnt listen to anything BUT him, and some Heather Nova... and a few others, but for the most part, I was just head over heels engulfed with LOVE for the strange music I'd been infected with.
To me, theres nothing else like his music, but man cannot live on JB alone ... hahaha.
I love tool, a perfect circle, and manson for the emotion....however, they've been labeled incorrectly because SOCIETY has whored them out, playing them everywhere, and using their name however it suits them, and it has nothing to do with the integrity of the music.
I seriously like music of all sorts, and I'm absolutely open to anything...
..thank you.

Too bad my sound isn't workin... :(
I love the Soviet stuff. It's awesome!
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
The song just reminds me of every "bi" girl out there making out with girls to get the guy. No thank you.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
That being said her and Zooey Deschanel look like they could be related because they have the same aesthetic but their facial structure is different.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
That song made me face palm.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
I was with my friend in his car and the song came on. he was telling me the girl who sings it looks good. still haven't seen a picture of her though. anyone want to link me to one?

Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Ha the ironic part is that in the music video she doesnt touch a female but once or twice, and tis never on the lips.
in fact most of the video is her touching herself or a wall, and at the end she wakes up with a man.
...
right.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Her voice is good, but Im sick of the whole "Im going against society, Arnt I cool?" thing.
I everyone keeps on doing it, then it will become the social norm, so if you want to make an impact, use sparingly.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Whaaaat? She has a video for a song called 'i kissed a girl' but she doesn't kiss any girls???
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
is she talking about Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Madonna-Britney-Christina, etc... kissing? that kinda stuff? wow! how cool and counter culture of them...
I miss the 80s in San Francisco...

uh, that song came out in the 90s..... around the same time as pearl jam and nirvana were getting lots of radio play. it's a great song. hard album to find where I live now though.
-
Re: "Kist a girl" Katy Perry
Blur?
the pretend to be bi thing completely perplexed me. all it drew attention from is from the immature boys who seemed to incidently P.E. on the spot.

was released 7 march 1994....

actually the reference was just meant to illustrate the club scene in San Francisco in the 80s... Blur released it in the 90s but that's a bit like the 80s were...
*EDIT* come to think of it... the 90s were like that as well... all of it is kind of a "blur" (no pun intended)

'94 was fun in SF :thumb: I think its all cycling back personally. B-a-G-G was a lot of fun when it first opened. House of Usher was more premium when it was Berkeley though imo. (Think it moved that year?) bit blurry. Had to have been 93-95 ish.

Art director: "OK, enough for the headshots already. Bring in the hogs and get me some butter!"
As to the music, the Simpsonism of choice is "Meh". Capitol are very good at spotting a trend and packaging a response, but taking fractionally too long over it. "Solo chick with a storylined lyric" was marketably different back when people thought Cornflake Girl was about cereal, but there are so many out there these days it's become background noise. Some half-asleep intern decides to "be cool" and hook into lesbianism (a silly idea, as she's not and regularly says so to anyone within earshot, and many who aren't), but that's a plan for someone with a very limited shelf life.
She'll get a few years work and sync more music into teen TV, but Matrix won't be the cause of another shrink-wrapped megastar just yet.
