That said, this model culture BS makes me want to smash all my cameras and stab forks in my eyes. I like to photograph people who are interesting and look good, not just people who look good. And that is getting harder and harder to find, as more and more people answer "What do you do?" with "I'm a model" and not, for example, "I'm just that cool" or "I do X and so creative thing".
I'm gonna have to get you in front of my camera one day. Both video and still.

Having started out in commercial and then low level "agencies", I couldn't agree more. This is why I like to find models that have an interesting look and don't really see themselves as scene whores.
Two of my really good friends just moved to LA after being on a reality show. They are finding it interesting that the kids are afraid of dealing with them... thinking that they are going to snap their head off like other scenester internet models. When they find out that they are nice, they are SHOCKED!

I'm at that generation of the local scene where everyone I knew when I got into it is either gone or getting into something related 'professionally'. Everyone and their mom is suddenly a 'gothic model', taking generic pictures with anyone with a camera that's willing to photoshop their name with a little circled 'c' on the results for their 'portfolios', pasting 600*90 banners with their face and stage name below every 'thanks for the add' comment they redundantly spew out.
I don't 'disapprove' per sé, but it is becoming rather typical.
Lighting and pose are nice...

I always tried to market my business and keep myself and my partner out of it, what do you guys think about adding a more personal feel to all of it? Do the people making a product/garment really matter at all?
I once saw a front-page article on Yahoo news that informed us that true-to-life mormon polygamists where selling some sort of hand-made robes.
I've since decided to advertise anything I sell as being the fashion products of atheistic amsterdam-born pansexual polyamorous paraphiliac druggies. I'm sure it'll be a headline.
Yes! Owners matter a lot. Its nice to know the people behind a company, I actually sway more towards certain on-line stores because of the owners being so friendly and its nice to put a face with a "brand", it feels more personable and people may feel more of a connection to the company that way. Customer connection adds to more sales (I know I sure end up spending more money at certain places) and word of mouth. Hope that made sense, I'm a little tired. :)Quote:

Thanks for sharing that pic... I think its gorgeous... and I'm surprised that NO post production went into the shot. I love the lighting, and how it brings out the angles.
My dad's got a lathe, he got the tips of 2 of his fingers twisted off. They reattached them...by the same dr that did the first human hand transplant
