Ike's not looking good at all - Galveston's already under 3ft of water and the DHS briefing 20 mins ago is predicting up to 100,000 homes could be lost across the Texas coastline and the track up to Houston. Unless something unexpected happens, I get the horrible feeling tomorrow we'll wake up to scenes like Katrina.
If you or yours are in the region, we're sending you our thoughts.
Highly doubtful that the situation will have the same results as Katrina, although the devestation may be similar.
dubya will rescue them texans faster than he's prone to taking a week off to clear scrub on his ranch.
I wonder if those fundamentalist types are bleating about it being God's punishment, like they did when Katrina made landfall. Cause after all, TEXAS is about Big Hair, Guns, Jesus and Whiskey, as GOD INTENDED.

im in Dallas so im prety far from the coast so at most wel be seeing alot of rain. My friend is headin down there on monday to help people out. i hope the whole thing blows over and nothin serious happens. I had alot of the same misconceptions about texans before i moved here from CA but evryone ive met has been very cool so im hopin it dosent turn into another disaster.
we can only killatom...to whom ever pray to hold prays for them. I already know handful of people, that are gearing to go help and also be medium between the people and insurance companies. When the rebuilding start and everything has cleared. I might head down there with 18 wheeler, sale doors,windows, roofing at more discount price than normal. New Orleans I could not even get into the door....
