Repo - the opera - the tour
I can guarantee that this is a love-it-or-hate it kind of thing, but you have to admit that Anthony (Buffy) Head disemboweling people while singing rock opera next to Sarah (Phantom) Brightman and Paris (er...) Hilton in a movie by the producers of Saw based on a stage play isn't something that comes along every week...
Personally I like it, but it's a baby in terms of financing and so there's a very limited US tour over November 10 to 17, with prints literally hand-delivered to each theater by the crew. A wide release depends on how people react. It's as Goth as you can get without owning your own crow.

Re: Repo - the opera - the tour
I know a bunch of folks involved with that and was going to give them some free promo, because they told me how shoestring it was, only their publicist never got me the pics and needed promo materials promised.
Turns out it is a Lionsgate release, so maybe I'm a chump for wanting to support it anyway. Still, it does have a bunch of people I like involved.
Re: Repo - the opera - the tour
what play is it based on?just curious seems like quite the eclectic cast...
probably will hate it myself but i have a relatively large chip on my shoulder when it comes to musical theater or opera, guess it comes with the tech job.

The stageplay/operetta was called "Repo!" - some details are at this link to the old website (it's a bit broken in places as it's only a backup).
Not sure precisely when Amelia was in the promo loop - there are/were two different movie projects. After the stageplay ended, a 10-minute short was made in 2006 to drum up studio interest and shown in a few Hollywood theaters, but with a different cast to the feature. Lions Gate came in off the back of that short, but it's still not a general release, hence the second round of direct screenings.
