I make anime music videos. I know. I'm a total nerd. But I love it. It's fun, it's relaxing and it helps keep me creative.
This is the one I'd worked on for the past 3 days.
I just wanted to share. Figured it might kill 3:45 for at least someone out there lol

The song is "Faster" by the band Tub Ring.
Great band, out of Chicago.

Re: This is what I do in my spare time...
Personally, I think those things are the fucking bane of youtube.
I personally don't understand the thought that says, "That person made some audio I like. And that other person made some video I like. Let me mash them together adding nothing that I did myself just to make sure that anyone looking for the original audio or video will have to wade through my garbage before they get to what they're looking for."
If you want to add your own animation or photos to music then by all means go ahead. You're just using the music to emphasize your own visual creativity. Or if you want to add your own score to an existing piece of film or animation, same deal.
But slamming together two pieces of work that you had absolutely no hand in creating just boggles my mind.

Re: This is what I do in my spare time...
Well, considering the band I used has 2 whole music videos, and isn't mainstream, I doubt it will hurt your searches.
But, it's no different than the person who adds a song that they didn't make to a soundtrack of a movie they didn't make. So, unless you happen to hate all movies that have ever had a soundtrack, you might wanna re-read what you wrote.
Not telling you can't have your own opinion, but I also have the ability to justify how it's similar in a more mainstream world.
And my videos are like remixes of songs: Yes, I use the original content, but I also add my own stuff and change it up a bit.

No. People who create soundtracks have the permission of the artists to add their song to the score. It's all legal, paid for, and artistically allowed.
You're just finger painting and pretending it's a Picasso.

I agree with Rockwulf... about it being a nuisance, though I have no appreciation of art so I don't really care what is or isn't art...

Re: This is what I do in my spare time...
Creativity is always the combination of existing things, the placing of known elements in a known context that is nonetheless new to it. The human mind isn't capable of true creativity, as far as I know - and that's probably for the better of our sanity.
Mind, the amount of creativity applied to something may still vary - making a song definitely involves more rearrangement on your part than does pasting it over a video, and pasting it over a video while paying attention to sounds matching visuals, common thematics and general synergy takes more creativity than pasting it over a video wholesale. From the fourty or so seconds I watched I do think she paid close attention to these details, so I would not call the achievement void of creative value.
I really don't like the song, though - but that's a matter of taste.

she's not making money from it, so the point is irrelevant. it is legally allowed. it's not like she's claiming she wrote it. like a band playing a cover song during rehearsal.
and i don't think she ever said it was high art...

Actually, I got permission from the band years ago to do these kinds of videos with there music, so claiming it's not legal isn't true.

I take photos that I have, use Photoshop, and "create" something new with them. I don't know if I can call that art, but I do call it being creative and changing something from it's original perception. I personally see nothing wrong with AMV's. I think they are very creative.
They may not be your cup of tea Rockwulf, but nobody's making you go on "Youtube" to begin with. Let's face it, 90 % of Youtube is utter fuckin' drack to begin with. At least Athena is using it as a vehicle for some creativity vs. some dickhead that posts up a video of him and his girly on vacation and titles it "The Greatest Video Ever" and puts words like "sex, hot, funny, horror" or whatever as tags to make you waste your time clicking on it.

Thanks for the support guys.
I really, honestly, don't care what rockwulf thinks of what I do, as I feel he has the right to think whatever he wants. I know what I do takes a lot of time, and dedication, along with not only an eye for visual appeal, but an ear for music.
And it was people like him in high school who I just ignored, so I will probably just do the same, at least when it comes to his opinion on something such as art or creativity.

Ahh, but a 5-year-old wouldn't have the warped sense of subject matter that a growed-up like you has!
You do realize that the more you say your stuff is the absolute equinox of suckage, the more we're going to demand to make up our own minds, don'tcha? Give someone a box and tell them "Don't open it.. it's bad" and you'll immediately notice someone holding an opened box.
And athena; I like the video. AMVs are a love-hate thing with labels, but I've always tried to support them provided they don't stray off into porn. It's still a legal furball (for example permission from the band is not the issue as an AMV requires at least three licenses) but labels are gradually accepting that they can provide promo for a track in a relatively-harmless way. We actually get more grumbles from some of the anime houses, especially if the track is back-catalog.
Found it on Youtube not as good quality but you don't have to click a suspect link.

Wow. I never realized how much I wanted to stab Lil' John in the face before that moment.... He's really fucking annoying.
ANYWHO: To each their own, though I must say, they did worse than myself on "copyright", so your original argument has become an epic fail moment. At least I have the rights to half the content absolutely. By your arguments, they are facing 4 different copyright charges: 1 for each song and 1 for each video, since both exist independently outside of the video realm.
So, how about you try again Rockwulf, when you can pull your foot out of your mouth. Thank you very much, please, come again.
