Threading... as in hair removal
Hurts like hell! However, I am happy to report that my manbrows are gone, and they have been replaced with some foxy feminine ones. Part of my new makeover rampage. I'm probably posting pics when I finish, whether you guys care or not. But that's neither here nor there. What I really am wondering, is does anyone now how threading works? I just laid back, covered my eye with one hand, and stretched the skin over my eyebrow with the other, and she went to town. Like lightening fast... No prep like you get for waxing. It was kinda cool, and now I wish I could watch and see what she's doing.
Also, if anyone has tried this, and having their eyebrows waxed, how did the pain compare for you? It's been so long since I've had mine done that I couldn't remember well enough to give people an accurate answer to that question. All I know is I'm definitely going back, even if it's only because of my borderline morbid curiosity.
Re: Threading... as in hair removal
its the same as tweezing except they wrap a thread around the hair real tight and then yank it out.

Oh, yeah I guess I should be a bit more specific. I know that's the product of what they do, I guess I wonder how they accomplish it, and actually have the precision they do. I would think that would take a little time to set up before each yank, but not at all, they just keep moving their little threads, and suddenly they're done. *shrug* I'll watch the miracle of threading sometime, and probably lose interest thereafter

Oo smart... Why don't I think of these things?
Re: Threading... as in hair removal
threading rocks... first had it done in Istanbul.... then later had it done in Baghdad... now we have a place on the east coast that does it...
Re: Threading... as in hair removal
what is the story with that sandpaper stuff they try to hock at 2 am? its called smooth away but how could that work?
Re: Threading... as in hair removal
Eyebrow maintenance is a major pain. I get my girlfriend to take the tweezer to mine; the few times I've tried it myself I've taken five painful and inexplicably sweaty minutes to get two hairs out and given up.
Before I was with her I shaved and drew them on just to avoid that very task, but I don't think the cyber tranny look would keep me satisfied today.

Back in 8th or 9th grade I let my sister pluck my eyebrows into some shape besides the man look I had going on. That was enough to put me off for awhile. So for the majority of my young adult life on I've been just shaving my eyebrows into a sort of more pleasing shape. This, while painful, isn't too bad. You just have to brace yourself, and you're done before you know it.
P.S. I get sweaty when trying to tweeze my brows as well... What the hell? I suppose making the hairs to slippery to yank out is a good defense mechanism though
Re: Threading... as in hair removal
It's just the precision involved in the task of getting a grip on a tiny object that you can only view in mirrored vision along with the tension of bracing yourself for something painful, I think. I don't doubt that it'd become a lot easier over time... but it's hell now, so I'll avoid it as long as I can. :D

It doesn't, that shit is just a scam.
Personally I love a good waxing, the pain lets you know it's working.

Mine are tattooed on and I just shave the real ones off :)
Saves alot of time that way and they are always perfect...

I think I'd rather go through the pain of threading, waxing, plucking, or whatever than have a tattoo needle on my face. I think I'd freak out and not be able to relax my face.
Also, I think I'd miss the hair, ironically enough.

Haha if they will let me I'll try and have someone take one with my phone. Don't have a video camera though so I can't guarantee the quality.
