The Grid: The Next-Gen Internet?
Internet was around for 16-17 years now and we can't imagine living without it now.It made revolution in form of global conscience and free information. Everything is only a fingertip away from us.
Idea of The Grid is that every computer shares resources with grid and other way around. This way you'll have power of millions computers around the world. Other thing is that every computer needs to be registered with name and adress in order to connect to grid. So everybody will be identified as soon as they log on.
No more privacy.
Idea started out as a solution for processing vast amounts of information that comes from colliding matter in LHC at CERN.
What do you think about the idea?

Re: The Grid: The Next-Gen Internet?
The way all these retarded "Cyber-bullying" laws are coming out, it's anyones guess which way the tubes will go.
Re: The Grid: The Next-Gen Internet?
there'l always be ways around any type of security
Re: The Grid: The Next-Gen Internet?
Yeah but the risk becomes higher if you're caught.
If I tell some retard to kill themselves last year, it's just me being a dick.
Then they pass a law.
Now if I tell someone to kill themselves, I'm a damn criminal.
Re: The Grid: The Next-Gen Internet?
Last months issue of Wired has an article in it about a guy who was fucking around with DNS stuff, and found a hole to reroute any .com to his computer if he wanted to. So he tried it and the best quote was " Oh god, I just broke the internet.."
