The Bloop: An animal larger then a blue whale.
This sound was recorded by NOAA and was picked up by microphones 3000 fucking miles apart. Scientists determined it was organic/living sound. But for it to be so large and capabale of traveling 3000 miles the creature had to be larger then anything known to us now.

Its also scary as hell and awesome. In that order :D

I wish megalodon never became extinct.
how big are blue whales?
Re: The Bloop: An animal larger then a blue whale.
Up to thirty-something meters or a hundred-something feet, I think. Bigger than megalodons.

yeah, I know megalodon was considerably smaller than blue whales. I was just wondering how big they were to get an idea of size.
megalodon sure was bad ass though.

They used to be close to 100 feet in length, but I don't believe any of that size have been recorded for many years. Females as long as 90 feet and males as long as 80 are sighted still I think, but their species certainly qualifies as "endangered."
As for this "Bloop"... I'm holding out faint hope for its generator to be something of Lovecraftian description, if not Great Cthulu himself!

If megalodons were still around, I don't think any human would ever go swimming in the water.....

You and me both. I check Bloop Watch pretty frequently, although they almost never update anymore.

i heard about this thing a long-ass time ago.
pretty weird.
i love all the things that exist in the world that we just don't know what the fuck they are.
all the weird shit on this planet is just awesome...

I guess the bible was right after all.
Re: The Bloop: An animal larger then a blue whale.
Iunno; as fictional paralels go, it fits C'thulu better than Leviathan. Lovecraft pegged the location, apparently, and Leviathan's supposed to have been pwned by Jesus' great big sword.

I thought that was Mary Magdalen?
(yes, it wasn't a very good joke. but that's all I got.)
Re: The Bloop: An animal larger then a blue whale.
Leviathan from the Illuminatus! trilogy was supposed to be a giant pyramidal creature with tentacles, and a giant single eye... I'm hoping the Bloop looks like that. :thumb:
