what are some good ways to learn a new language?
i've always wanted to learn a few languages, german, russian, gaelic and cantonese but have had no luck with most of them. i'm sticking with german though. i have one of those apps on my m-space account that's called german word fot he dya and it helps a little cus of sentence structure and i goto a few sites where people talk/type in german too. plus it doesnt hurt that we use german words in the english language and that certain words we say sound almost identical to german words like cold-(kalt)hello-(hallo) etc. but aside form being totally submerged in a language, which is not very easy out here to be aorund german people who speak german what are some good ways to learna second language?
Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?
I used to be very good at german but I have not spoken a lick of it for years, so I would have to relearn it from scratch. I think the best thing to do with learning a new language is to learn it like you learned your native language. Learn that a ball is a ball, not that a ball means ball which is a ball. Learn hundin is a dog not means dog. That's how we learned language as a child, so why not continue running with it.

Im getting RS soon..for Russian and French. I want German, but Im computer illiterate when it comes to downloading torrents and installing them (let alone getting keys for it)
Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?
for picture files it's fairly easy although i never seed after i've downloaded a torrent lol dunno about decoders for programs though. i'd imagine it'd be the same type of torrent reader though right? im not very tech savvy either.
Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?
well I dled adobe photoshop and the instructions to install it so it worked were ridiculously complicated. Something about opening it in Sandboxie to make sure it wasnt a virus, then doing something with some program Ive never heard of, then changing registry files...just way too complicated for me lol
Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?

Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?
the library should have some books on tape (probably CD now). you can take them home, burn them, and give them back to the library. now that's cheap!
Re: what are some good ways to learn a new language?
yeah but i wouldnt trust the library out here to have cds on german. lol
last time i went down all they pretty much had was like a bunch of naruto mangas and dvds.
