If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I know a bunch of folks here are vegetarians, but a bunch are not. If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to eat meat? Like, so long as you were supplied with the correct tools, would you have the constitution to be able go to a slaughterhouse and kill a cow or go to the woods and kill a deer?

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
i would like to say yes but i probably wouldnt be able to.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I don't know...... yet.
Probably yes. Anyway I have more empathy for animal than for a human.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
If that would be the only way I could get it, then yes, in a flash. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I wouldn't think twice about it either.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
Totally. I'd do it with the incorrect tools too, if I had to.
Possibly if I didn't have to.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I'd probably only do more than fish if it were a choice between vegetarianism and starving. There's no meat I love so much that I'd rather draw a blade across some poor beast's throat than live without it...
... unless I discover one day that human actually tastes delectable! (I'm working on a novella at present where a group of suburban cannibals decide to eat their way through post-modern corporate America.)

Corporate America falls painfully short of being postmodern.

You know plants are alive too. And they have feelings too, despite what MG said.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
Plants don't have a nervous system. They don't have 'feelings' in any sense that compares to our own, if anything else.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to
I'm willing to kill animals for laughs.
I thought about getting a job at a slaughter house, because, you know, you can't spell "slaughter" with out "laughter", but those are good places to get injured, and the working conditions and pay are suboptimal.
The only problem is that that much like pringles, you just can't stop at 1.
Soon I'd be killing animals all day, and then I'd never get any work done.
...I'd gladly kill an animal if I didn't have to dress it afterwards. Although to survive I'd do what I had to.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I grew up in a small town with a bunch of farms around it and I've worked as a farm hand, including slaughtering cows. I've got no problem with it. Hell, it would probably help to know that there weren't any weird shit put into the meat after the slaughter.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
They put the weird things in before the slaughter.
And yes. Plants can feel too. They can feel which direction sun is coming from and they can feel where is more water in the ground. As for emotions... that's another thing. :)

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
Some places put more preservatives and shit in after they cut the meat into sections and whatnot.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
Absolutely.
I actually think people should be willing and able to kill the things they eat.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I know about spraying the meat with preservatives to be fresh (read: still on the shelf for sale). Usually, just good washing is enough to get it down. But that's here, I hae no idea what they do in USA.
Anyone heard about Codex Alimentarius?

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
sure I'd kill it..............that's the easy part, it's all that work after that kills me
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I heard it's healthier to eat it raw.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
well, you still have to skin it, clean it, preserve the leftovers, etc.
could you just imagine what suburbia would be like if everyone had that going on on thier patio's?

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I'm craving smoked salmon right now.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
considering as venison and beef are very yummy id have to say yes.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
Absolutely. I have killed animals for money, I think food is far more useful.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
How so? You worked as an exterminator?

Yes, scary shit if it is real.
I agree with Karl. Killing it is the easy part. Preparing it is different.
I wouldn't do it anyway. Only meat I eat is fish. I suppose I could catch it, kill it or just let it die, and prepare it. I just don't know how. I have watched my father gut fish before. Also, I saw Mike Rowe do it on Dirty Jobs. Pretty gross.

You can always do your own research if you don't trust others.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I'll rather have someone else kill it for me.

Anna Evans could just have been in one heck of a fetish movie.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I am not squeamish when it comes to my appetites. I'll casually end whatever for my meals.

Animal Control. I put down a lot of unwanted pets and decided I would really rather do porn than kill kittens for $7/hour ever again.

My that logic, my hair can feel nearby statically charged objects, and it's dye can feel the direction of the sun, too.

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
I killed, dressed, roasted and ate a squirrel I caught back when I was camping with the Boy Scouts.
So, I guess the answer's yes.
-
Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
nope. but i know plenty of people that would do it for me.

I told you. Your hair has feelings too.
"LEAVE RAZA'S HAIR ALONE!"

Re: If you eat meat, would you be willing to kill an animal to continue to be able to?
As an insane craving for filet mignon continues to plague me, I must amend my earlier answer. It turns out I apparently can't live a life without red meat; guess Bessie's just doomed to bleed.
