what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
I love cooking. A lot. I'm super super fond of my new blender, because I have discovered the joys of alcoholic milkshakes.
Yes, my milkshake does, in fact, bring all the gentlemen to the yard. (Which is very small, and far below me, so then they are out in the cold!)
What is your favorite kitchen thingy?

^ That's supercoolawesome. ^
I have this food processor with all sorts of add ons. Makes it lot easier to make food for more people. And does the half job when making bread.

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?

Makes perfect sense to me...I got a new paring knife recently, that thing is my baby. Good knives are so useful.

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
We have this gadget that cuts grapefruits. It's pretty neat and very sharp. It cut Xavia quite badly once.

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
I'm a knife guy... always have been. I love what a blade can do, and I especially love what they can do to food. You people can keep your fancy food processors; give me a knife rack and a cutting board, and I'm a happy entity. That rapid "chop-chop-chop..." of vegetables being diced is one of the most aesthetically pleasing sounds in the world!

The fridge. It keeps beer cold and has practical uses of stocking sandwich meat, cheese, milk, and beer. Did I mention it keeps beer cold? I can fit four unopened cases into a barracks fridge and another case worth in the door and the drawer on the bottom. Not that I would ever do that though...
In second is the santoku knife I use to have. It was a JK Henkle or however it's spelled. Everything I needed to cut it could handle easily. I worked as a prep cook and only had 5 knives: my santoku, an 8 inch chef's knife, 3 inch serrated utility knife, a carving knife, and a parring knife.

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
Funny thing is, their HQ is like right across the street from Wuestof (the E is added in because I don't know how to do umlauts on my keyboard)

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
yeah we used to sell those and forschtner and victorinox at the old sword shop. was actually surprised victorinox made a set of kitchen knives cus they're mostly known for the swiss army knives over anything else but they do.

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
It's a good idea with the push it thingy. All those TV stuff might seem as a good idea but the quality is lowest possible. You can see from the pic that it's easy breakable plastic.
My mom has a saying: "I'm not rich enough to buy cheap stuff." that I think fits perfectly in your situation K :)
For some odd reason Magic Bullet does sound a bit erotic :)

Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
No matter what.....Keep the Knives sharp as Hell. THAT will make or break you when it's cooking time.
-
Re: what is your favorite kitchen thingamajig?
Yeah, didn't mention them because they kinda are above the all. They shouldn't even compete.

oddly the plastic is of a really good quality, its the little piece that fits between the chamber and the motor that split in half. *shrugs* there's a ridiculous warranty on the thing, but as it wasn't actually mine, it belonged to my ex's mom, I couldn't send it back and get a replacement 'cause she never filled out the warranty card.

Actually, yes it is. I made smoothies every morning and sauces three times a week. it's a great help with chopping nuts and making banana purée for muffin batter and it didn't require that I make a mess of the full sized blender or food processor (which I still used when shredding cucumbers for tiziki sauce, the bullet just pulped them). And it really is dishwasher safe and durable enough to drop all the parts (though I wouldn't recommend dropping the base) without too much fear of cracks or shattering. The only piece on the one I had that was an issue was the little piece inside the base that slotted into the blade housing. its about the size of a dime and apparently wasn't made of the same uber durable plastic as the rest of the parts. It split cleanly in two. But there is a warranty on the thing so as long as you've filled out and sent in your warranty card, they'll send you a new base/blade/chamber if you need one.
/sales pitch
Other than my 3 for $5 paring knives and my garlic press I still want a kitchen aid stand mixer for my next birthday/xmas present. The hand mixer I stole from my last land lord makes my arm hurt if I use it for more than 4 minutes.
