what do you think is the standard shelf life of a website?
i used to go to a ton of sites....
ogrish......
i can has cheeseburger and it's sister sites: failblog and punditskitchen
used to have an account on neopets and deviant art
and frankly i just got tired of going after a while.
it was as if the fun had expired in a way of going there wether it be through
retooling, spinoff sites being done to death, user drama or well, looking at cats with funny captions just wasnt fun anymore......
now granted, some sites, like blueblood, are like old school twinkies in that they'll still be good for decades on the shelf and could probably withstand a nuclear fallout....plus i heard a rumor that if you let a twinkie age for ten eyars, the filling turns into alcohol,
no offense meant to blueblood, i made the twinkie reference in an endearing way.
but others are like soda pop, open it up and leave it in the fridge long enough and it gets flat.
anyways, what do you think is the standard shelf life of a website?

Remember friendster? Mawhahahaha.
If it doesn't have hot porn ... I personally loose interest in about 2 years. However a certain "place for friends" has held my interest for too long ... but it's become more of networking necessity. Like reality tv.
god help me if twitter goes dead :D

omg i so dont remember friendster lol but yes, i have a hard time pulling myself form the same social networking sit ei think you're talking about, this site-obviously-and the witches voice. i have those three on my top three speed dial categories.
opera-the main browser i use- has a speed dial function.
never twittered though. do you think that'll be a "twinkie site" or "shelf date site"?

I freaking love twitter. I think it will have a longer shelf life because people who don't have internet on their phone can still twitter when they're not online. And God knows we love communicating.
