what "fad-tech" do you remember?
"fad-tech" would be technology that sounded cool at the time but was practically useless and inconvenient.
if you grew up in the eighties or nineties, you probably saw a ton of it ranging form carphones to walky talky sized cordless mobiles to the power glove!
I still think the goofiest one i ever saw was the video payphones out here that southwestern bell ahd going on in the early nineties. it was supposed to be so you could send video signal while you talk to people who had video phones.....
it's since been replaced with webcams and mics but it was just crazy cus they had them everywhere out here...even at camp grounds of all places.
anyways, what fad-tech do you recall?
Re: what "fad-tech" do you remember?
I just remember all those Mattel sports handheld games where everything on the little screens were just lighted up red little lines and there was no skill to it....Just luck.
Oh...And the Sega Genesis 32 bit "dvd" drive thingy that did NOTHING to make a game better, but cost a shitload of money as a add-on to the console. Total fuckin' ripoff.
Re: what "fad-tech" do you remember?

Re: what "fad-tech" do you remember?
the dustbuster
we had one throughout the 80s and used it like 6 times and the 7th time we used it it was dead and woudln't charge anymore
nicad batterys and dumb chargers that just kept pumping power into fully charged batteries was bad tech
and every cordless phone i had in the 80s you had to entend the antenna about a foot and it still sounded like static filled tin can
another one were boomboxes you know ghetto blasters
that and a osbourn portable computer and you looked like you were quazimodo
Re: what "fad-tech" do you remember?
