what do you think about global currency?
tonight's presidential speech lightly hit on the concept of global currency, an idea of every country having one single piece of currency kinda like the euro.
I believe it was brought up by a reporter as an alternative way of fixing the budget
now, president obama has already stated he does not believe in the idea of global currency but what do you think?
it'd be interesting to hear from people across the pond on this who have had to deal with the euro for a while now.
has that helped out over there? do you think switching to a global recognised currency would benefit the economy or make it worse globally?
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
you know, I'm not exactly sure what the economy really is anymore.
How would 'they' actually go about creating this global currency?
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
the reporter didnt get into details
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
He's a troll. Wants Obama to admit to a NWO style one world government.
A global currency would be a fucking disaster. We are not joining the Euro to the Zimbabwe dollar.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
the reporter was a troll? wow, and here i thought that term was just for interwebs reference.
it was kinda funny a little seeing the reporters asking the same question over and over again only with different wording. obama was getting pissed off for a secondr there too.
best line was when the guy from cnn asked him why he didnt come out earlier with his distaste to the aig crap like the guys in new york did and he responded with :
"i wanted to know what i was talking about before i made a statement."
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
Thinking before talking in a President? That makes a nice change.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
it does lol i like the fact he isnt shy of admitting he's wrong or taking the blame for something either.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
global currency scares the crap out of me. it would me a total disaster, and a huge mistake.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
I saw that movie Zeitgeist the other day. There was mention of Canada, U.S., and Mexico all having the same currency. The Amero. That would be a little fucked up I think.

Re: what do you think about global currency?
To have a true global currency we would need a true global banking standards and practices. Who do we trust that much? The US couldn't even get on board with the Stop Executing Children Agreement or the Quit Shitting In the Air Treaty, how could we possibly get on board with a global bank?
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
okay, just found out who it was who propsitioned the idea of global currency.
China
go fig.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
China, who deliberately engineered their own currency to be worth less than everyone else's to get an unfair advantage in the marketplace?
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
When we have food energizers and warp speed drives on our spaceships I'll be down with universal currency.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
Every major currency is global, at this point. The real question is whether one could replace current use of all others.
At a guess, I'd say not going to happen in times of economic turbulence like this. Instating just the euro required a lot of people to feel financially comfortable enough to overlook the personal stakes different participants could have attributed to them. In the world at large and at a time like this, it wouldn't get anywhere.
On the very long term though, I think it'll be either that or no currency. Rooting for the latter.

yeppers. one in the same.
apparently they thought it'd be a good idea being as we owe a shitload of money to them.
anyone else starting to feel like maybe the cold war isnt exactly over yet?

Re: what do you think about global currency?

i agree with this
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
The handshake dudes are realising that the Chinese are finally starting to understand.
They gave us durable goods, we gave them pieces of paper that are dropping rapidly in value. If they try and trade those in, then they become worthless AS THEY DO SO.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
durable goods??....................only because we know how to fix thier mistakes.
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
not everything form china is durable. we just have a ton of chinese products in this country because they have a cheaper labor force than we do over here.
you can thank nixon for that flub up btw.

Re: what do you think about global currency?
I work with big factory machinery............almost everything big and cast iron is made in china now..............if they think they can get away with cutting a corner they will, if they didn't I guess I'd have less work
-
Re: what do you think about global currency?
if they didnt cut corners, there wouldnt have been that big lead recall last year. china is all about cutting corners if they can get away with it.
yaknow what's funny though is all the news channels out here have just been looping president obama's response to that cnn reporter :
"why didnt i come out sooner? because i like to know what im talking about before i say something."
you know that guys probably been bunked down to fetching coffee now lol.
