anyone know where is a good place for skin?
I had this brain storm today about the scorpion costume i was talking about before. i really wanna make him look evil as fuck like he just climbed out of hell and this idea popped in my head about making his apron vest look like sewn together human skins including a few well placed screaming faces stretched out and maybe toss in some blackened chainmail here and there too.
anyways, do any of the costume afficianados know a good way around either finding some cheap artificial skin or maybe a cloth that would fit well to this look? thanks.
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
Malc: just put latex on your body, peel it off. Voila. Skin.
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
i was thinkin that cus i do have a big bottle of l.l but i want this to look like several pieces from various bodies sutured together. also gonna cannibalise a skeleton prop i have and incorporate that in too
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
So dye various pieces of latex, apply the latex to different people, and sew the pieces together.
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
okay thanks. do you think diong like a free pour onto oh say something like a wax paper sheet and then just patterning it out that way would work too?
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
It might, but it wouldn't have the same texture, would it?
It's all surface details: skin, etc.
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
yeah im kinda new to using latex and stuff lol.
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
I like to layer latex in places with makeup so it looks like real gore and texture. you can cut, sew, patch, layer, paint and all that until you get it right.

the best place I can think of that might have that is cinema secrets in burbank, ca..... I bet they have a website, I just don't know it. google it; I'm on a cell phone, or I'd post a link. ;)
Re: anyone know where is a good place for skin?
lol ok ill chek em out. i actually was gonna updat ethis because i started working on the hard parts-hard as in dense not difficult- tot he vest. i had aquired two of these medieval plastic axe props so i could cannibalise one into a gnarly looking kunei. (they look kinda like fasces but on acid) and the curvituire to the "edges' kinda reminded me of over exxagerated collar bones so im rigging em into over exxagerated collar bones and fixing chains to it from a decapitated head propl i have which i'm probably gonna hack up and use in the vest as well
im gonna piece it all together along with the rest of what i've already got to see how it'll look before priming and painting it but i'll see about posting some pics when the suits done. may be a minute before i can do the face gag though. i wanna get a human looking mask to rig to my mempo so i can apply one of those sectionalised glue on skull masks-yaknow, like the don post studios one? so i cana ctually peel back the face and have a skull. also looking into the contacts too.
