I think it's both.

He's obviously a nasty drunk, and he's said a lot of offensive stuff in the past.

So it kind of serves him right if he ended his marriage to get with a psycho bitch
who was out to blackmail him. And he deserves any fallout from his behaviors
and the things he says. If you don't want people to hate you, don't say nasty
things about other races and other religions. It doesn't matter if he was drunk,
or if it was out of context. It's still offensive.
