Plot Ideas?

Okay... I don't know if anyone here has heard of NaNoWriMo (national Novel Writing Month), but the basic principle is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November.

It's coming up fairly quickly, and I want to start planning characters, etc... but I have no plot ideas! At least, none that will really work. The best idea I've had so far is a post-apocalyptic world where everything is run by nuns. Evil nuns, and space-pirate nuns.

Does anyone have any story ideas that actually make sense?

maybe have a blue blood style post apocalyptic pirate fuelled quest to deliver the new photoset of keiko to forrest and amelia before the evil Sceptic Messiah destroys the world ending with a gruesome fight to the death between hempknight and kilatomik for the fair szandoras hand in marriage............or something stupid like that :rolleyes:

I would forget about the nuns maybe make the serviviors split up by religon and fight in battles. Over food n shit.

the nun idea is cool write about people who escaped an evil nunery and start a war against the nuns

How about nuns who run the temple of MCD where the post apocoliptic hugry people can go to be fed by the pre3istesses (or nuns) and then have a sort of soylent gren-like thing to the food. (hey! isn't that already going on now) that way everyone has a job to do

What genre do you write in mostly? It depends on what your strong suits are, and then I can help you more.

My Suggestion:

A Demon is in a tomb with a holy blade stuck in his heart. a priest wants to reclaim the relic, and display it in the temple. The priest has no idea that the removal of the blade will re-awaken the sleeping Demon. Another priest learns of the his plans, and DOES know of the consequences, and is prepared to stop him at any cost, because if the Demon is awakened, then a Gateway to Hell will be opened. The priest fails to stop him, then after the Demon awakens, he posesses the priest, and then controls the nearest major city, and builds an empire. Eventually, Demon slayers come to attempt to kill the posessed priest, close the portal, and banish the Demon back to his own plane.

What do you think? I apologize if it seems too much like the plot to Diablo.

I'm pretty decent at science-fiction (not the hardcore stuff, like Asimov, though) and fantasy. At least that's what I like to write.

And Sceptic - I like your idea... if everyone'd agree to it, I think I'd like to use them/their names...

Do a story kinda like the opposite of the story of Jesus Christ...
Instead of a boy being born of a Virgin and the son of God
take that and twist it inside out and make it a boy born of a crack addict whore who is the spawn of Satan....Take everyone throught his rise to power and how the world falls at his feet...Instead of healing ppl he brings pain and suffering to them as he learns of his family lineage...
Tell of his conquest against the churches and how he takes the preist who are wicked (IE those who touch little boys) and turns them to his side making them in to his wicked minions to do his bidding and bring ppl to him...

That should get you started...

Should make for one hell of a plot and piss off a few ppl in the doing..

Yeah...Pretty much...Just model it closly to the story of christ...Just to piss ppl off....Call it "The detestation of the Antichrist"

I think people would read it out of pure lothing for the subject

Sci Fi: Set on Earth, world population has dwindled down to millions instead of billions (be it plague or war or something), set in very far future though not as technollogically evolved because of decreased population. Main Char. is important person (ie. world leader or something), and there's a war between worlds.

Fantasy: Set in some easy-to-pronounce and quite easy to remember named world, a rift is created and some lowly urchin or something is struck with powerful magick when someone else had tried originally to become that powerful person. The now-powerful urchin or whatever is being hunted for his/her/its power, etc, etc.
