Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
me:

my friend dan and i dug a hole under the wall of this old gothic stone building yesterday. I got really muddy. But we got inside. Then we had to climb up a pipe to get up in the building.
We also went to an old abandoned Lucky Strike tobacco factory and I took these pictures there:

We found a tunnel under the building, it was really long. It went on forever. There were rats and spiders in there, big ones. And lots of cobwebs that kept sticking to my face.

We found some other tunnels too. This one was less cramped.

yeah those are some badass shots...

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
aw, thanks guys! haha - honestly i got way muddier than that. I looked like I just came from woodstock, hee hee. Today I'm scratching all my mosquito bites and nursing my wounds, but it was worth it.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
You are still beautiful, even when covered in dirt.
Those photos are exactly like the stuff you would find in 40K, Inquisitor, and Necromunda.
Great pictures! Btw, how come you were digging and exploring there?

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
Those photos kinda remind me of Rob Dobi.
Granted most of his photography is used on EMO cds.. But the bare photographs are very cool.
He has this set where he broke into an old mental hospital and snapped some pics.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
i have hundreds of photos like that from all sorts of different places - abandoned insane asylums, abandoned tuberculosis sanitoriums, factories, abandoned apartment buildings, etc. So does Rob Dobi. He's lucky to have so many abandoned hospitals up in new york, in fact all the new york explorers are spoiled in that respect. They have such an abundance of abandoned buildings.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
looks almost like a computer rpg dungeon... very cool

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
The last Vogue (or a month or two back), had a whole shoot in sort of an industrial place, but yours is better. I like the way someone painted a skull too.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
No wait! You should have a party there!!!
-
Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
yeah i have a bunch of friends who do this type of exploration
but as a warning: be careful of all those pipes they are insulated with asbestos and other then a few coats of paint or such they are usually exposed enough that if you were to climb on it or grab onto something it could easily breakoff sending alot of fibers into the air and all over you.

Yah.
It's all about the environment, especially for photographers without the liberty of buying/renting a studio and creating one.
*glad someone ACTUALLY KNOWS who Dobi is.*

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
they have old buildings like that here, but i'm afraid to go inside them. i'm afraid i'll get caught and get in trouble. i live in a military town and my actions reflect on my husband and have the power to make his life miserable... i feel like i'm missing out. damn the government. aside from old factories on the outskirts there's a huge high school that's been condenmed because it's too dangerous or out of date or something. i've been dying to explore it but its in the center of the town i'm afraid of getting caught.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
gasmkas awesome photos and what a bitchin sense of adveture cudos for it! love the photos and it's nice to see a pretty girl get dirty! I should have brought you to Quebec City with me. YOu would have had a blast digging and seeing old things that no has forever....

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
skully: yep alot of the buildings I explore are filled with asbestos, it's nothing new to me. If I don't stir it up it's ok, it's not like I'm spending a long time in there, or touching it. I'm more worried about the methane in the sewers I explore than the asbestos. But you're right, it's something that shouldn't be messed around with.
Pelelaka: I live in a military town too, and my fiancé is in the military, and he comes out exploring with me, lol.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
That looks like so much fun! I used to explore the ground water drainage tunnels that run under my old neighborhood. They went on for miles. There were hidden rooms and complex junctions, bricked over dead ends. It wasn't as pretty as the stuff you have posted here, but it was fun to explore and map

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
Wish you could do this kinda stuff in L.A. but abandoned places like this tend to be far too dangerous to explore...friggin psychopaths of all shapes, sizes, and colors "own" those places.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
This place looks like where I work, only this looks cleaner!
And technically I'm meant to be a civil servant! (i'm more of a government hooligan) :)

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
its too bad you live so far away from me, I do stuff like this all the time. We have a few abandoned asylums in the immidiate area, and there are some really great factories in various stages of decay. A few years back the police started patrolling regularly, setting off our counterattack or vandalism towards big businesses to take their eyes off the ruins. Great shots, you look stunning. please, grace us with more of this beauty.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
Too bad that Lucky factory is gone, that's my brand.

Re: Covered in mud, blood, and mosquito bites...
Good stuff.
I am also a big fan of industrial archeology, abandoned buildings, etc...
Mine are sucky by comparison.
