I don't think I'd avoid meeting anyone because if I can't stand them that much there must have been something that I learned from the whole situation, in turn, making me the strong person I am today.
Sadly enough I do have those people that I will avoid like the black plaque due to those "unfortunate" mishaps. If you are fishing for a name the first one that comes to mind is Shane...
Why? He is the perfect example of a wast of time. Through all of that I did learn something.. You can't save anyone who doesn't want to be saved. I'm sure he's still in Georgia doing his some old routine, running away from his problems while shooting dope in his arm or which ever way he's doin' it now. I seriously watched one of the most beautiful people in the world destroy themselves from the inside out.
I learned from that, never to be like that. Never to give empty promises. Never lie to someone I love. Above all I learned how NOT to be a junkie.

I don't know of anyone I would want to avoid.. I know that there are times with certain people that I would have liked to have avoided..
Since this is a 'what if' question.. I'm going to go with this kid I know named Ken. He just bothers me, and I wish that I never met him.

For me it was my 7th grade english teacher...also a nun...and also pure evil.

Everyone (except for a select few 7-8 people) from before I was 20. The town I lived in as a youngster made me strong, but it also made me bitter.
