i was taught never to trust a christian. i have so far in my life tried to keep an open mind about everyone. but time and time again my mothers words have been proven true, and this is just another thing that makes me mistrust christians. i really try to treat ppl equal and not be prejudice to anyone, but i am increasingly feeling an extreme amount of bigotry towards christian even more so to catholics.

y'know something interesting? I wonder what the Christians (or anyone for that fact) would think of LeVay's Church of Satan if the dogma was presented without reference to Satan? I'm an athiest, so I'm pretty unbiased (at least I like to think I am) and I have found that some of the Church of Satan ideologies make more sense than the Christian ideologies.
The above link is misinformed foolishness...a few of the facts are indeed correct, however each symbol is used according to how the individual wants to use it. I have a Yin-Yang and a Peace sign tattooed on my back, but neither have any religious meaning for me, they simply represent harmony and peace.

lol, that was really funny! this article must be based on some of the stuff i read back in the late 80's or early 90's. i remember a piece by either gary or george larson(not the guy who does "far side", mind you) linking D&D to satanism. and anything occult in general to satanism. i read the book "satanism" by wade baskin and found out alot of the things he mentions regarding those symbols. ive heard about "the satanic meaning" of symbols such as the peace sign, anarchy A and the yin and yang before. i once had to deal w a friends father who believed that the peace sign i was wearing was satanic. he asked me to either remove it or leave his house!
i want to mention a few things about his symbol list:
anarchy sign: ive seen this used by young teens who were in the rebellion stage of growing up. they used it to represent their rejection of all things good and right. laws and order mostly the status quo. i dont ever recall anyone reading into as much as this writer tho. its religious connotations are beyond most users.
pentagram/pentacle: i have to mention this, because its not well documented nowadays. the writer claims, "Either way, it is not from or of God." this is not entirely true. it used to be used to represent the divine. for instance, in "sir gawain, the green knight" this symbol was used on his shield to repesent "the divine mother" mary. but he was more a knight of the Goddess than the God. iit has many uses outside of the judeochristian worldview. it is usually the one point upward version that symbolizes the Goddess(feminine), while the inverted, one point down version that represented the God(man). usually it was used to symbolize the horned god, especially Pan who was later diabolized into the devil.
he does make the distinction between its two forms in terms of white and black magic. ive seem many ppl who use it merely for its shock value. and ppl still cant make the distinction between the two forms!
hexagram, star of david: this is just bad. i mean, how long ago did ppl stop believing that the jews were evil? i know a few rascists who used an argument like this to justify there rascist agendas. he says that the "egyptians used this unholy icon". yes, they did, but it wasnt unholy to them! it is a big symbol in the "hermetic tradition." it is symbolic of the belief in "as above, so below": macrocosm, microcosm. think of it as two triangles interlocked, one up one down.
swastika: they dont mention how it was used by some ppl(native americans, i believe) in a reversed form to reprent the movements of nature. however, any use of this symbol was tarnished by hitler. i know many ppl who will never use it bacause of its association with the holocaust, not the other way around, as this author claims!
peace symbol: this too was used by hitler, to mark the graves of his officers for instance. it was officially adopted as a symbol of modern pacifism by a demonstration led by bertrand russell in 1958. it was used by Nero, "as the sign of the broken jew." i do not know of it being used for initiation into any satanic groups, and the uses it has therein are news to me.
yin and yang: the one thing that the author misses here, is that these "opposing forces" as being shown in balance! this is what ive always seen in this symbol. that you cant have one without the other. it represents dualism. ive never seen it used as one over the other.

the thing that really got me was that the modern peace symbol and the broken cross are actually different and have different origins upon looking this up i read that the modern peace symbol was created by bertrand russell and is a combination of the semaphore symbols for N and D which stands for nuclear disarment which is of course completely satanic in nature BTW you should read some of the websites movie reviews i was particularly disturbed by the one for the Birdcage

The U.S Signed a "Neutrality Act" toward Spain, but the Roosevelt adminisration allowed Texaco to supply oil to the Italian Military (which was highly illegal accordign to this new Act they just passed, but they didn't take any legislation to put a stop to the trade, becasue it was of course, in favor of thier intrest.) So the short-lived anarchist state was quickly defeated by the fascists.
To be honest...the people they want to piss off with sites like that give them all the ammunition and attention they need...so why bother with facts?

The orthodox christian church, also advises that people should disbelieve "Darwin's Theory of Evolution" because it's "Satanic". i was speaking only from my own personal experiences, people i have met, artictle i have read and other such things.
i live in a small community, that has many different churches, but there are no orthodox churches in my town or the surrounding area so i really havent had any interactions with that type of christian so i really cant say anything about them.

I'm certainly not Christian, but did anyone hear President Jimmy Carter's interview on NPR. He just wrote a novel, but most of the time they spent talking about his presidency, projects and policies. He is an evangelical and yet he was huge on food for the poor, education aid, state emergencies (like when Mt. Saint Helens blew up in Washington state) and even was a proponent of alternative energy. Whatever happened to fundamentalists like that? I thought the "fundamentals" were to love the Lord God with all your heart and thy neighbor as thyself. Of course, with how some people treat themselves, maybe that's not such a great idea.
