I've been trying to come up with a list of the greatest speakers of the last century and/or people you just love to hear recite or do spoken word. It's an eclectic bunch but I would love to hear who others love to hear. I'm thinking as much in terms of the delivery as whether you agree with the message. Here's mine so far:
Martin Luther King
Malcolm X
Lenny Bruce
Lydia Lunch
Henry Rollins
Jello Biafra
William S. Burroughs
Allen Ginsberg
Diamanda Galas
Ronald Reagan
JFK
Shelley Berman (comic)
Oksana Zabuzhko
Johnny Cochrane (Amazing Attorney)
Jack Kerouac
Jack London
Dr. Seuss
Antonin Artaud
Anyways, feel free to add and specify what in an orator makes you tingle. For me, it is a visceral appreciation of style as much as the message. I will generally give credit where it is do as long as the message is not utterly vile.:thumb:
