Which are cooler? Pirates Or Samurai's/Ninja's?
Oh and WHY!
I'm a big fan of Ninjas, they are all iron monk style and could kill a pirate before he could even spit out the word scurvy. That and ninja's can run on air that is awesome and they have samurai swords.....and their movies are like crouching kitty, hidden pecker or something like that.

eh. the local scenster venue had a poll like this a while back. all the hardcore kids picked ninajs. lame. I used to like pirates because they drank and cursed and were punk rock. then I realised that punk died in 1977 when it became fashion and that I was just a drunken pathetic asshole and used alchohol as a crutch to bury my problems, and then feel sorry for myself on account of all the new problems it created. so i'm gonna go with neither. bleh.
Each has their appeal.
I would prefer Vikings either way. ;)**

Pirates and Ninjas have both an image and reality to em. A couple good books are:
A Mind of the Ninja by Peterson and Under The Black Flag (Pirates) by Cordingly. I'd choose both or neither depending on the situation I found myself in.

I say pirates win it two rounds out of three. See, you'd have to have more than one fight to encompass the wide range of circumstances ninjas and pirates might do battle in. The first round would be a one-on-one duel; and video games have taught us that while even one pirate is a force to be reckoned with, one ninja is a nigh-unstoppable force oif doom. Round one to the ninjas. Round two pits a group of pirates against a group of ninjas. Once again going from TV and video games, a pirate crew (when not too busy drinking grog and pillaging) is not only powerful in brute force, but also very crafty, while ninjas in numbers greater than three seem to become cannon fodder (look at Shinobi... he's one ninja and he's unstoppable, while the legions of other ninjas he fights are all useless). Round three is a vehicle-to-vehicle match, where the pirates of course get their ship, and the ninjas get a vehicle of their choosing. Though if no decision on a ninja-mobile can be reached, they have a drinking contest instead, and the pirates would most certainly destroy the ninjas in that.
But what would really be awesome here is, of course, a ninja-pirate. Imagine walking home one night, when you hear a quiet "Yar" from the shadows. All of a sudden, a shadowy figure drops from the trees above while you're distracted, and with one swing of his hook hand, that's all she wrote.

I saw this one shanghi style movie where this american corporate war lord had a house in an oriental country and had this lattice type ceiling. This ninja crawled across it on support beams and owered a string into his mouth then fed poison down the string killing the warlord, by far the coolest death trick yet! lets see a drunken pirate compare with that! and Pirates drink screech ninja's drink sake! The only good thing pirates have going for them is johnny depp!

Ninjas ARE cool but technically ALL warriors in Japan were considered Samurai. I'd hate to break it to you but the running on air and acrobatics is mostly fiction. Though Shaolin is very much real..Quote:
