So far it is... About 2300 miles separating us and not coming home til June... I see why it wouldn't, it's not easy though, in the end it'll be worth it...

Rarely. One or the other party usually ends up finding someone local.Quote:

They can work, but usualy don't.
They work if both people are willing to work at it. My boyfriend and I did the long distance thing for a year because he got a terrific job opportunity on the east coast while I was going to college on the west coast. It was hard work and very expensive, between phone calls and plane tickets every three months. It was only for a year but I think it actually stregthened our relationship. We found that we could be apart for a year, be faithful to each other, and survive. It was also good prep for having seperate lives while still being close to each other.
I dont know about anyone else. But They Have never worked out for me. I Think its because I Just really need that hands on closeness. Not Just sex...But actual physical affection.
Ive been in a very long distance relationship (Germany-Atlanta) for a year now, its hard but worth it.
The phone bills are a bitch
had one and it worked successfully for a year
i dont think it was the distance that drove us apart
but the lack of quality time together when we both weren't knackered.
My sister is currently datin a guy from NYC and she is still based London UK and thats ok.... it depends on the couple i suppose
I think you would have to be committed to a long distance relationship. It would also have to be well-defined as to what was acceptable and what was not. You would lose a friendship otherwise.
OEC
I've been in a few and they haven't really worked out. The same could be said of most of my non-long-distance relationships though, so that really doesn't say much.
They only work if the two people work hard at it and KNOW the other person is the one they want to be with. It's not the kind of relationship you go in with casual intentions and agree to be exclusive...it's the type of situation that will tax your emotions to a serious level so you need to think hard on it. It's never easy but if you focus on the larger picture it's very much worth it.
I've had one long distance relationship where we got to meet up perhaps three or four times a year. She considered it a success, but I didn't. It ended about five years ago but, sadly, didn't result in a continuing friendship.
Well, I met my husband via AOl 7 years ago....we've been married for 5. We are a very wellplaced match...He moved down to Florida from CT to be with me...so there was a long while we had to use other means...via internet, phone etc...to communicate before he could come here...it was rough but if you can find someone honest...and loyal...yes, it can work...6 years of being physically together and we are even more in love..... we still hold hands when we go out in public...(yea mushy I know) so I wholeheartedly feel they can work perfectly, We are a prime example of that..
my boyfriend and i are 2000 miles apart and wont see each other for a while. its worked so far. but last time i tried with my girlfriend it didnt work out so good.
its hard but I think it might be worth it I have been with this girl for about 6 month now we stoped talking for about a month long story but we have been talking more and she might be coming down here to see me I just dont know if I can take being away from her for so long I really do care for this girl but its a lot of work...
hell yeah it is. but if you truly love someone and care for them, then its all worth it in the end.
