What do you like to see in music videos?

It seems like the current vogue is either a stripped down video with the band moodily lit and shot from odd sectional angles or baroque stylings shot wide angle.

What do you like to see in music videos?

Gritty feel or blinging?

Parties like you would personally go to? Parties you wish you went to? Parties you wish existed?

Makeout scenes?

Hot girls whether or not they are in the band?

Hot guys whether or not they are in the band?

Male or female artists?

Special effects?

What makes a video really work for you?

I like videos that tie into the song or add to it...unless it's a pop song then I want to see the typical dance, party, club, etc. sexyness.

These days though it's all pretty lame due to too many thinking they are fucking hollywood prospects like Michael Bay was...I'm not looking for high art but I'm also not looking for this "Hey I can direct movies too!" show off reel.

but good editing and special effects are a plus.

I agree with Johnny. If only more videos had that Warrant 'Cherry Pie' vibe I'd be a happy guy.

Although Psychic TV has this wicked video (I can't remember the name of the tune) but it was really dark feeling and this guy poured gas on his self and lit his self on fire. I know that does not sound that impressive but it was shot really well and the editing was exceptional.

I love seeing interesting creative videos that have a story to follow. I am sooo fed up of seeing just band shots from different angles and random "cool" shots... seriously a lot of mainstream directors these days have no creativity and it pisses me off!!! *calms down* hehe...

i really like videos that show a point ,no matter how weird that point may be,like Agoraphobic NoseBleed's "misquito holding human cattle prod it's like 20sec long ,not much to it ,some weird imagery ,BAM it's done.....

or take NapalmDeath's old 2sec explosive fury of noise videos.........wow.......

Basically I guess what i'm saying is I like my videos to be porn.
If the music is good too, ..bonus!

I like dark, or desolate landscapes. Snow is a good effect.

I guess I like videos with a story. It doesn't have to be a story with a meaning, just an idea well put. "Right Now" by Van Halen was a nice video with not a story, but something to show. And so it was "Everybody Hurts" by REM. It just needs to impress me to be of my liking. And half-naked bodies, cars, good looking bands playing to die hard fans, and sobbing lead singers can't do that to me...

I like videos that don't show the band. videos are supposed to be about creative visualization of the music, not just a moving advertisement promoting the band.

I like to see gypsies(Romani) running from police or doing something very funny.
In all truth, I hate music videos. I only enjoy them when they are somesortve thing where the video was in mind when the song was made... so you have an excuse besides money to make a video.

I was in a music video a few months back and basically we got stupidly drunk jumped around a bit had some damn cool make up on to make us look like some undead crowd. (there as only about 15 of us but the director made it look like theres a few hundred) the whole affair was very cliche but very cool :) so a video where everyones having alot of fun (regardless of if u can see it or not) is definately my kind of video

You'd really like that Burning Angel DVD.

animation's always a plus, some groups have made some sweet videos with either animation or claymation.
Also if somebody is doing something original like the Pharcyde video Drop where the whole thing is backwards.

i like videos that tell the story of the song..and keep or give us a mood to feel..I love things that make you think and feel...i dont care of the girls/guys are hot, as i do ...interesting...

I like to see the following: Elaborate glittering fantasy, An homage to an old film, Or something romantically/disturbingly Dark, from Tool to the Perfect Drug.

BTW, the new Chemical Brothers "Believe" clip is just amazing...

My all time faves include "Windowlicker" and "Come to Daddy" by Aphex Twin, and "Where's Your Heat At?" by Basement Jaxx...

I like videos that are really visually interesting to watch...... but if they fail at that i like to see pretty girls shaking their booty

im not a huge fan of the song, but i love the film clip for my chemical romance's 'helena'. i think its the whole dancing/macabre ballet/umbrella twirling parts. but its just a really well done clip.

it dosnt matter wats on a music video to me..as long as the music going along with it is good..if its not then wats the use in watching?? but one thing i hate is seeing half naked, ghetto chicks shaking their asses...
