WTF is Balvenie Doublewood?

Single malt Scotch aged in two different types of wood.

I used to manage a liquor store in Portland - much alky lore here.

14-year-old single malt Scotch aged in a traditional whisky cask and then transferred to a sherry cask. It's tasty.

I actually prefer the Balvenie portwood, which is aged in a port cask, but I finished that and I'm too cheap to have two bottles of single-malt in the house.
