Your favorite hip-hop albums
Don't hate.
- Ice-T: O.G. Original Gangster
- Ice-T: Home Invasion
- Ice Cube: Death Certificate (mostly the first half [aka the Death Side]... he gets all Nation of Islam on the second half. Still, the production by the Bomb Squad is amazing throughout -- musically one of the densest, rawest albums ever in hip-hop)
- Public Enemy: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
- Stereo MCs: Connected
- Everlast: Whitey Ford Sings the Blues
- Sage Francis: A Healthy Distrust
- Black Eyed Peas: Elephunk
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
Dr Dre--The Chronic
Snoop Dogg--Doggystyle
NWA--Straight Out Of Compton
NWA--Niggaz4Life
2pac--All Eyez On Me
Ready 2 Die--Notorious BIG
Illmatic--Nas
Outkast--Stankonia
All of those still get heavy play in my stereo :D
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
not really a hip hop head. I got into it for a while but the themes are so repulsive. If the rappers didn't insist on writing their own lyrics it would be great. Rap with intelligent and provocative lryics...now that would be great.
but anyway...
Snoop: doggy style was really cool and so was tha' last meal.
Wu Tang stuff is often cool,
and Ghost Face Killah's first two albums were cool too.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums

eight ball and mjg,

If you listen to something other than pop-rap, you can find it. Hip-hop is no different than any other genre in that the most visible acts are usually shit. However, a few you might check out:
Mos Def, Talib Kwali and Black Starr (and a lot of other stuff on Rawkus)
Sage Francis
De La Soul
and jeez, have we forgotten Public Enemy so quickly?
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
i hate rap/hiphop but theres a guy out there named immortal technique who is bad ass. his shit is real political, look up lyrics for "Cause of Death", "Bin Laden", and "The Fourth Branch" all that shit is BAD ASS... it really gets me going and remember I HATE HIP HOP
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
Many artists but albums off the top of my head...
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet (I've been listening to it since friggin grade school.)
N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Lots more but those always find themselves into my weekly playlists.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
Don't sleep on the EPMD
I've been thinking about picking up the new album from T.I. - Urban Legend
I like a few of those tracks.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
I like a lot of what's already been listed. Illmatic, Elephunk, Enter the Wu, Rhythm and Gangsta by Snoop, The Chronic, anything by Mos Def, Tupac, uh...more that I can't think of at the moment.
I like a lot of non-serious hip hop as well. I'm all into the booty music it works for a soundtrack to lots of tasks.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
Busta Rhymes: Extinction Level Event

you should check out dead prez. poignant enough for the revolutionary, gangsta enough for the rap purist.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
A few of my friends have tried to "expose" me to some hip-hop, but it never takes. It's just not my cup of tea i guess.
Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
Ludacris - Word of Mouf
Ludacris - Chicken 'n Beer

Re: Your favorite hip-hop albums
I always liked 'Paris' and 'NWA'. Most of the current top-40/rump-shaker shit that seems so popular these days I just find banal. KRS 1 is still fresh. I don't often listen to hip-hop.
