I'm not addicted to coffee
My espresso consumption tends to go in phases. Right now, I am trying to cut down. I've succeeded in cutting down. Generally I don't want it that bad after the first couple of days. But I'm really craving just an eensy weensy iced latte right now. :coffee2: I think I may just give in in a few.
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Give into your addiction...how else will coffee bean growers send their kids to college?
That's how I like to justify it.

Yeah, I think you should really listen to Miss Caffiene.. AKA Szandora.. Pretty soon she'll be getting coffee injected into her veins.
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
I have no coffee in the house and am subsisting on black tea. Have an espresso for me, and savor it.
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
i have coffee, but no sugar
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
I'm trying to cut down too. My only problem is that my coffee intake is related to my writing. I tend to write more when I have a good coffee buzz going. The good thing is that it may not be all caffiene related but just a habit of sipping somthing in front of the computer.
I saw that GNC had jolt gum. You can mix it with nicotine gum and get the same coffee and cigarette effect while on the go.

Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Since my work cycle is all fucked up, I need coffee to live. I usually work all night, when coming home from school, drink about two cans of coffee and a shitload of beer, and try to get some sleep the next night.. or later. Plus I feel like a zombie without coffee. People also told me that I'd look like one. Just my two cents..
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Go forth, my brethren, and caffeinnate yourselves!
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Amelia, it seems as if you started on espresso, and you are now on the iced lattes...
I think it's OK as long as you don't add sugar. I gave up caffeine for a week, but that was all I could take!!!!!
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Continually trying to cut back on coffee but it never works. Maybe caffeine really is a drug!?!?!

Espresso goes in the iced lattes. I never add sugar, but I don't think the other ingredients are so good for me either. They are just soooooooooo desireable though.

Now remember... 5 a day to keep the diabetes away. (from Amelia's other coffee thread)
I was just enjoying some nice French Roast in my huge coffee cup/cereal/soup bowl since my lovely Nudemuse just bought me a new coffee maker last night (my bigass cup holds exactly 4 cups, according to the marker on the pot).
I love the smell of coffee in the morning.
or anytime as far as that goes.

I love going places where they roast coffee. My dream house would have a coffee roaster going in the basement.

Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
I don;t drink coffie never had. soda has just as much caffine in it. Im more a suger addict myself.
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
cofee soesnt have as much caffiene as cofee there is actually a difference in the legal limits for both drins and coffee has i higher limit (its almost twice that of soda if memory serves me correctly) and besides coffee is one of the greatest substances on earth
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
Coffees have more caffeine than soda type beverages...
Red Bull 80 (per 250 ml)
Jolt 71.2
Sugar-Free Mr. Pibb 58.8
Pepsi One 55.5
Mountain Dew 55.0 (no caffeine in Canada)
Diet Mountain Dew 55.0
Mello Yellow 52.8
Surge 51.0
Tab 46.8
Coca-Cola 45.6
(per 12 oz average - mg shown)
Compared to coffees:
Drip 115-175
Espresso 100mg of caffeine
1 serving (1.5-2oz)
Brewed 80-135
Instant 65-100
Decaf, brewed 3-4
Decaf, instant 2-3
(average 7oz serving)
Also too, caffeine works as a diuretic... so for every one serving you must drink two of a non-caffeinated beverage to stay hydrated, which is why when it's hot out... niether soda or coffee will really quench your thrist and can be quite dangerous because even though you are taking in fluids, the caffeine makes it pass through your system quicker than non-caffeininated beverages.
Botanical chemistry/medical sciences was not the thing for me to study... I know waaaaaay too much for my own good some times....
Class dismissed.
That and drinking an entire pot of coffee probably wasn't such a good idea either... but that French Roast was just soooooo tastee... 12 cups later and I'm wound up like a Swiss watch...... weeeeeeeeee...
watch me go :thumb:
Re: I'm not addicted to coffee
I don't survive without coffee. I started drinking it when I was little, and haven't stopped since.
