Anyone else into foreign film?
I really enjoy Asian films, especially the works of Takashi Miike, Chan-wook Park and Takeshi Kitano. Foreign film is just amazing, it is just a whole new cultural awareness. I watched a Danish film titled "Bleeder" today, it was very good. Just curious if anyone else enjoys films that don't have a budget big enough to feed a small nation.
Re: Anyone else into foreign film?
Depends on the movie, but there are lots of awesome movies from most places.
Re: Anyone else into foreign film?
takashi miike is da man. visitor q is fantastic.
i would recommend the idiots - a dogme film and quite quite spectacular. also go get some Harmony Korine NOW!
Re: Anyone else into foreign film?
I'm really into French films........... some are really fucking cool (Brotherhood of the Wolf, Delicatessen, City of Lost Children) and Amelie is fucking hilarious.
Last night I saw this movie called Samurai Fiction, pretty cool movie, also Ringu is a sweet movie and you can't go wrong with a Kurosawa film, BY THE WAY, Yojimbo has been made into an anime.
Re: Anyone else into foreign film?
hewhoisagod: I own "Amelie" on Dvd and love Jean Pierre-Jeunet, especially "Delicatessen" and his work with Marc Caro. "City of Lost Children" is visually stunning as well. Gaspar Noe is another excellent director from France. He has done "Carne", it's sequel "Seul Contre Tous", "Irreversible", and "Sodomites" and "Bunker", those are pretty rare, shorter films. Have you seen "Haute Tension"? It is by Alexandre Aja. Or "Funny Games" by Michael Haneke?
vixta: I have seen some of Harmony Korine's work , "Gummo", "Kids" and I heard "Ken Park" is also well done. I have to check it out.
Re: Anyone else into foreign film?
No I haven't seen them yet.......... kinda hard to get french films in Kansas...... I am going to France next year though for school so I'm sure I can find copies of those, I'll just need a region free DVD player.
