So I almost killed my brother last night by accident

Well to start things off hes ok i only cut him a bit, So my brother is 13 and still home from summer vacation so he stays up late watching TV, Last night as i was about to lie down for bed i heard my dogs barking and the door to the back of the house opening from the outside. LIving in a bad side of town i figured something was up so i picked up a sword i keep under my bed and decided o go see what was goin on. sure enough there in the den i see a human shadow moving about without thinking about it i grazed him with it and he screams. Once he screamed i knew who it was so i was like oh shit and looked for the light switch. i didint cut him to bad but still its gona leave a mark on his arm i bandaged him up and sent him to bed. Aparently he for got to feed the dogs and thats what he was doing at 2:00 am :rolleyes:

Cause if he's not, and you can't determine a threat vs a tiny person, you shouldn't be armed.

he actualy is prety big for a 13 year old, hes about as tall as i am im only 5'9"

shiiit... what the hell kind of sword is this? all the ones ive seen arent sharp enough to cut skin... theyre the shitty collector swords that just look cool though :S

mmmcherry, if ya check out the swords they sell at museum replicas dot com, youll see they sell battle ready swords, not onlly beautiful pieces of art, but battle ready as well, cause I have the gladius, and have cut myself deep with it...razor sharp

it looks like a cutlass, naval, possiby between civil war or later. but first, see if you have a dark cloth to set it on, and take a pic os the whole thing, hilt to tip and a profile shot if possible

i only have a crappy webcam and i havent been able to get a decent pic, i know it aint from the american civil war because my grandpa is from mexico but i am assuming its from the civil war they had down there early on in the last century

that looks like a millitary style saber how long is it? doesnt look like it has much of an edge at least not near the hilt. But yeah on the subject of aquiiring swords i have about 5 and they are all razor sharp i know how to use em too god help any asshole that tries to break into my house unless he has a gun or something but if i could sneak up behind him his head would be on the floor before he got a chance to shoot it

Same here, always keep the sharpest with Me at night for anyone stupid enough to get is the house, and fuck a gun, in the dark, I have the advantage.. as for Kils sword, what I want is a better look at the grip and guard, so I can identify it easier, without a hand in the way

also, notice if there are any marks, writing or dates on the blade, hilt or scabbard
something of a makers mark

ive thuroughly inspected it and theres no markings on it at all, also the original grip has worn off, it was leather but the sword wasnt kept in the best place through most of its life it was placed under a matress in my grandpas house, im actualy sortof restoring it because it was in a piss poor condition when i re discovered it,(it was beleived to be lost for some time)

dont do too much restoring on it unless you are good at it. can take away from the value and history of the item. best to find someone that is expert in restoration to do the work for you

well if you are re doing the grip thats pretty common just read up on the proper wrapping techmiques for the leather
