Who has more maturity?

Seeing the topic that was posted earlier made me want to get opinions from others. Do you feel women have more maturity than men or do you feel men are more mature? I personally feel, men are more mature. I'm a female. Of course there are exceptions to the rule but on the whole, men are more together. You will never see a woman in the Whitehouse, and there are reasons for that. I realize this is going to be based on personal experiences but on the whole, men are much more rational. Both sexes have the ability to get to childlike levels but I feel a woman will go to that level a lot faster. I honestly feel the physiological makeup of a woman adds to the equation... hormones and the like. You see the claws come out real quick. This is based on what I have seen with myself and with other women.This is not meant in any way , shape or form , to be disrespectful to women. It's just an opinion and I have a right to it.

I personally don't think maturity has anything to do with gender. Hormones and how it makes ladies crazy. YES!

I think that although it depends on the person, Women seem more mature early on comparatively speaking, But I think later on in life in the fourties, men seem more mature than women in their fourties

by fourty women have lost thier minds do to hormones. but really i've seen alot of immature people. depends on the person.

All of the above ... I love women, and it saddens me to say... women are nutz. But overall I find that men tend to be a bit more rational, so it may seem they have more maturity.

Well, it really depends. There are a lot of exceptions.
Maturity comes from several sources.
And it does not have as much to do with the sex of the person.

People can become mature because they are smart.
People can become mature because they have to hold a job and take care of themselves.
People can become mature by being parents.
People can become mature by many life experiences.

I've seen men and women who act like children, even if they are 30.
And not in a good way.

And I've seen some men, and some women, who hold jobs, take care
of their family, etc...

Maturity usually meant taking some responsibility for life.
Understanding what life is about, and making good decisions.
When you talk to someone, you can tell if they have their shit together.

Even though someone young and silly can be fun, it's not too wonderful
to be with someone who is not aware of how the world works, and can't
keep a job, can't understand people, etc...

I think in the past, men had to be mature faster, because most men
were expected to go work at 18.

I think everyone matures, as life goes on.
You learn how life works, how people work, and you do not freak out as much
when things do not go your way... I think that is one of the biggest signs of
immaturity. Which is thinking that like is *supposed to* be a certain way.
Well it isn't. Despite what your parents may have told you, life has no
plan, or order. It's strange, and you have to learn about it, and you
have to do what you need to do to get by. And it has nothing to
do with life being "unfair". Like is unfair by it's nature. I think
that understanding that is one of the big steps in maturity.
I hate it when people whine about life not being fair.
I'm like: "Yeah! Duh!"

...but being a jackass, I just can't help from making sweeping generalization...

...up to age 27 or so women by far... guys are completely retarded until that age... even if you've got a clue before then, the ladies got you beat...

...after that it sort of evens out, with the guys catching up at around age 35, or so (again this is totally individual, and some folks are dipshits their whole lives... like me.)

...around 40 or so guys start wondering WTF happened to the women their age... guys keep maturing til about 50-60 or so... but women seem to be where they were at in their late 20's-mid 30's...

...of course results may vary, check with your factory authorized dealer...blah, blah, blah...

hahaha... personally I'm so woefully behind my little brothers in the maturity dept, that I'll never catch up... and to think that I was such a percoious 5 year old LOL...

I beleive maturity doesn't have anything to do with gender, but rather it is a matter of balance...

A balance between being a kid, and being an adult...
Don't take life to seriously.. but at the same time you don't have to be a "class clown" at a board meeting.

Anyway: the idea of maturity itself is a nebulous concept and there are way too many variables to the making of a 'mature' person to really pin it down. Also, there is such a thing as unhealthy maturity, just as there's healthy immaturity. For example, my little cousin is 13 years old, works a part-time job in a bookstore and is the most serious individual I've ever met. I think it's actually illegal for him to be able to hold that job, and he still HAS to, because his family's pretty destitute. That's just... wrong to me. When I was 13, I was seeing how far I could throw my brother over the soccer goal and wondering where my boobs were.

Also, maturity is an essentially individual quality, something I see as having no basis whatsoever on gender. I have several mature qualities (I see myself as a pretty wise individual, even if half of that is because I use big pretty words), but I have several less-than-worthy qualities as well. I figure if my life explodes I can take care of myself, but that's not maturity, that's not being helpless.

How do you define maturity?

The ability to understand the world around you objectively, and make responsible decisions.

Which does not mean you can't be a total freak, and have fun, and act like a lunatic.
It just means you have to know what you are doing, know the consequences, etc...

Maturity outside of the literal dictionary definition is such a flexible term that it is tricky to say either way. Your values decide what you think is mature so it is really a matter of which sex seems to hold your values more.
