I am sad :-( I am losing my home......

I moved into an apartment (more of a guest house) in April and have spent endless hours renovating my little house until it was as perfect as you could possibly imagine. It is my little mini gothic mansion. They sold the property to this horrid lady (who BTW is a wretched beast but sweet as pie as shit pours out of her mouth). Now they are taking my downstairs storage unit and I had turned it into a art room where I paint and sew. It officially belongs to the tenent in the front house but the last 3 tenants who have lived in my house have always used it. And they are renovating the property so that they can turn my little house into a big house, raise the rent, and kick me the fuck out. I am so so so so sad. I love this house more than anywhere I have ever lived, seriously, I painted the whole thing, even the ceilings. And now I have to leave. She said she would let me get out of the lease early so that I could move because I told her I needed more room, and without the art space I will not be able to live comfortably.

But I am thinking this: you know when a property management kicks a tenant out they have to pay them a SHITLOAD of money? (If the space is leased, not month to month, of course). Well perhaps they were going to have to do that anyways, so to her she would be getting lucky if all she had to do was let me out of the lease. Being the swindeling horrid wretch that she is I can see her using ninja manipulation to work things in her favor.

I am so SAD!!!!

You can always decorate your next place...

That's one of the crappy things about renting.

You want to find a cool place, with reasonable rent,
and know that you can stay there for a long time.
Then you can go crazy with the painting and stuff.
I stayed at my last apartment for many years, because
I did not want to redo everything. But I did recently
move, and even though I bitched and moaned about
having to move my crap, the new place turned out
even cooler than the old one. So if you can find one
cool thing out of the whole experience, at least you
can look forward to doing really cool stuff with you
next place. Paint is not that expensive... And you can
take all the rest of the stuff with you...

Plus, now you can move to LA, so you don't have to
commute up here to go to the cool clubs...

BTW, do you ever go to any of "The Brotherhood" parties
down in San Diego? Those are probably some of the few
cool events down there...

seriously tho i am saddened by your bad news.

i feel bad for ya cause i was and still am in that situation.. ive been in 8 different houses in the past year.. this is my 9th. and we owe 2100$ right now and have literally about 10$. ya.. so im seeing a 10th place soon probably ;\ i'd say you could move in with us but..i dont think my wife would like that ;)

Bad news indeed, always sad to hear when a person loses their personal part of the world...especially after pouring so much time into it. Hunting for a new place is never fun when you HAVE to do it...but any positive energy I have I'll happily send your way in hopes you find a better place or at least one as comfortable.

That is a beautiful place, but really only because you made it beautiful. I know you put in a LOT of work to make it just right, but I'm certain you can perfect any place you go. I'm sorry they are making your life more difficult though.

i totally can relate to making a rented property your perfect little get-away only to have it ruined by neighbors, landlords, rent, etc.

i know it's not easy, but buying something for yourself is the way to go. that way nobody can fuck with it.

That fucking sucks. Your place is one of the most awesomely decorated on earth. I mean, you are a brilliant decorator and I'm sure you will make a new place really amazing at some point, but that is wrong for you to have to start all over when you already have a great place.

Did your front neighbor move? If not, I don't see how they can repossess that spot. How soon are they snarfing it from you?

Im with everyone else on this, FUCKIN LANDLORDS SUCK ASS!!!!!!! but like Buster, I plan to have a castle built to live in(9bedrooms and three stories). All I gotta do first is come up with the 10 million first. but really, I feel your pain of having someplace done just to your taste to have it ripped from your grasp . LANDLORDS SUCK!!!

On a side note..I will never be able to shower again with out thinking of you. We have the same shower curtain, and my bathroom is green too.

That sucks, there's pros and cons to both renting and buying. In the end the choice is up to you. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure the next place you have will look just as great if not better.

how long have you lived there? cause in the uk if you get kicked out like that you get significant financial compensation (my ex got £7000) so i'd recommend seeing if you can get some free legal advice about it.

yeh that sux. Im always wantign to decorate in goth style too. maybe you could give me some ideas on how to goth out a ohuse but still keep it child friendly? I'd probably use a lot of my own paintings though....nice shower curtain. i used to have one like it but it was all jolly rogers. spent like maybe twenty bucks on it at ht....vinyl.

i've always wanted to decorate with lots of ethnic stuff. african demon masks, dia de los muertos dolls....maybe make some oni masks...dead roses etc.
any hints?

Yes, I have been planning in my head the changes I am going to make. I am looking forward to it in a way, but the initial shock was hard to deal with. Now that I have accepted it I look forward to the change. I just hope I find somewhere with a yard again!!!
