Re: oh crap im living in bush country now
That is quite a change, from CA to TX. I usually view them as polar opposites. What was the motive of moving? Your horses?

You've never been here to Texas then, I take it.

Re: oh crap im living in bush country now
The only differance between CA and TX is the accent....
Re: oh crap im living in bush country now
yeah the main motive was the horses, no way in hell could i buy a large enough house in CA and surprisingly most of the folks ive met dont have the accent. that was kind of a letdown

The real question is...Where do you keep your ship? Or did you put it ashore and get some wheels for it?

Well for one thing, Texas is pretty much a polar opposite of ITSELF. LOL.
It pretty much depends on where you hang your hat (har har) and who you associate with. I am a child of the Austin music scene, and also lived on ranches and small towns in my life, so I feel that, with my personal background, I can say that, like America as a whole, Texas is a mishmash, a melting pot, if you will. You have the backwoods Bobby Ray crowd, who take out stopsigns with a winchester, but you also have the ghetto gangsta thugmutha's in the metro areas. But then you have the punk scene of Houston and DFW. There are artsy fartsy galleria dipshits in Austin, and there are Beatnicks with large debts in San Anontio.
It is all pretty much perspective. Texas has one of the greatest technology industry placements in the job world, next to silicon valley of course, and our natural beauties are unique in that, unlike most of the other 50 states, we have every single type of known natural envrionment. We have ice and snow covered mountains (big bend), Swamps (i live 40 mins from lousiana and its pine forest and swamp interlaced randomly and some of these areas look more like Missisippii thatn traditional mental pics of texas), we have coastal region that is not all littered and nasty, we have desert (thats the standard expected reaction from non-texas I see, thinking we all live in teepees or ride horses naked behind our sister), and we have marshes, and pine forests (like where I live, actual PINE, places where people haven't ever lived before, where you can still claim squatters rights, next door to national certified forests).
Yeah, we have a mish mash. Tis home for me, and I don't mind. Oour current president gives us a bad name. We really ARE like a whole other country :P
