FL man kills roomie over toilet paper

MOSS BLUFF, Fla. - A man accused of fatally beating his roommate with a sledgehammer and a claw hammer because there was no toilet paper in their home has been arrested.

Franklin Paul Crow, 56, was charged Monday with homicide in the death of Kenneth Matthews, 58, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Capt. Thomas Bibb said Crow initially denied his involvement, but confessed during questioning.

Crow told investigators that the men were fighting about the toilet paper over the weekend when Matthews pulled out a rifle. Crow said he then began beating Matthews with the sledgehammer and claw hammer, according to an affidavit.

Matthews was beaten so badly he had to be identified through his fingerprints, detectives said.

Crow was being held at the Marion County jail without bond. It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney

wow i would consider it justifiable homicide if someone put the toilet paper on the tube coming out from the bottom instead of over the top

but no toilet paper in the house! the dead guy was lucky he didnt go after the victims family as well.

of course i would have given him a warning with every washcloth and towel covered with chocolate streaks

here's the rest of the story....

Capt. Thomas Bibb said the suspect initially denied his involvement with the crime, at first blaming it on a local motorcycle gang.

Bibb said after detectives were able to knock holes in his story and alibi, Crow confessed to the crime and was charged around 4 a.m. Monday.

The sledgehammer was found in the backyard of the home.

Matthews, an auto parts delivery driver in Leesburg, rented the yellow and brown trim mobile home where Crow lived on and off with Matthews.

Detectives said Matthews was found dead inside the home about 3:30 p.m. Saturday by his landlord, John Bouland.

Sheriff's Capt. James Pogue said Matthews had last been seen about 7 p.m. Friday. Bouland, who lives next door, realized he had not seen his tenant during the day and went to check on him Saturday afternoon.

Detectives said Matthews had been beaten so badly that officials had to identify the body through a set of fingerprints taken from a previous traffic arrest.
