About three hours into the world record-setting event, 21-year-old Matt Robison sat still, piercings poking up and down his arm as one of his bigger tattoos, the red-inked phrase "Don't Ever Judge Me," faced toward onlookers.

"When I told people I was going to do this, most of the time they looked at me like I'm crazy. They don't think I'll do it," Robison said.

But he did. Robison, an apprentice piercer at The Pit Studio in Ottawa, set a world record Saturday by getting pierced 1,016 times in one sitting.

"I've been sitting so long, my vision is, like, blurry," he said.

And that was only 3 1/2 hours into a marathon piercing session that started at 10 a.m. and almost literally lasted the rest of the day.

Now a sign is posted in the front window of The Pit Studio, where Robison was pierced by friend Ryan Cook. It reads, in bold red capital letters, "World record. He did it! 1,016!"

Robison, a Marseilles resident who graduated from Ottawa Township High School, originally planned to get 1,000 piercings, 400 more than the 600 that Kam Ma of Britain got in one sitting in 2002. But apparently the British record holder heard about what Robison was planning, because last week he broke his own record by getting pierced 1,015 times in one sitting.

That prompted Robison to increase the number of piercings he planned to get up to 1,200. But after experiencing the pain of hours of piercings all over his back and arms, he decided to settle for the world record and not go any further.

The event was recorded on video to be sent to the record verifiers at the Guinness Book of World Records, and everyone who watched the piercings signed a log that is being mailed with the video.

Before Saturday, Robison had 26 piercings on his body. After the record was set Saturday, 1,015 of his new piercings were removed, leaving one in his body -- the record breaker.

thats cheating i think the record should only be if the piercings heal with the thing in there other wise this girl could claim a win

i dont understand

so he took out his origional 26 (eyebrows,ears,nipples,other old ones)
and left the final one the guy put in that day?

also with a body tube in the ear technically he could have a 30 rings through the one big hole

I have to admit I was a little "WTF?" when I read he took all but the last one out...but still, to go through all that is bloody insane. Yowzers.

was talking to my friend today, the guy who originally had the record recently beat his old record, the day after the guy in the article above beat that record by 1 :\

apparently called up the original guy who had the record and asked what it was, then put one extra in :\

in a months time hes gonna take back the record though (apparently)

i know this because my mate knows the guy.

i wonder if there is any way to find out who has the most piercings right now and how many that is.

if its anywhere it will be in the guiness book of records :P

but im wondering when those 2 guys who are doing the piercings... when is their skin gonna fall off? theres gonna be nothing left of it soon!!

hehehe, im not sure if hes piercing the same guy, but i imagine he is, with the whole waiting a month thing, should give the skin long enough to heal, but man, i know what one repiercing feels like, 1016 of em must sting a little :P

but i wonder who really has the most body piercings that are healed

going through a day of torture only to end up with just being the person who had the most piercings

but he doesnt have the most piercings now

most piercings in one sitting.

i think having the most piercings healed will be a hard one to judge. it would be a paint to be able to say which ones were truly healed or not. some piercings can take a month or so to truly heal while others can take a year or more (if they are ever truly healed)

the record was actually for the piercer i believe. most piercings in one sitting.

i believe some college students did prove the number of licks it would take but i am to tired to look up the info.(which i just saw the commercial for this morning its crazy they are still using the same commercial after all these years)

hahaa dammit now i want a tootsie pop...

ive heard that the safest way to get piercings.. multiple i mean, is only to get 3 at a time, at the most... the body cant really heal more than 3 nicely.
something like that anyways :S
