How do you stay cool?
Since it's been pretty humid tell us ways to stay cool when we are outdoors and indoors. I just crank the air-conditioning everywhere I go. Eat cold food only, such as pasta salads, garden salads. Drink tea & water. Take pretty cool baths & showers. Use a fan constantly. Put my hair up. Limit my alcohol except at family gatherings. Any more you do that work for you?

Re: How do you stay cool?
barcalounger with one end in the shower; paperback book i don't mind getting soggy, and a couple of hours of the chinese water torture.
--
then i put on my heavy vinyl pants, windcheater, fluffy jumper and big ole boots, and stand in the sun for an hour or two while frying jalapenos on the barbecue.

How does that help? I like being hot, but I do take a lot of cold showers.

Alcohol's never upped your body temperature?
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I sit in my office and think cold thoughts...
hmmm, Frozen midgets on sticks
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
ToeCutter : Alcohol makes me feel warmer in the Summer. Everyone's system is different, obviously. You do say you love the heat, so I would doubt you'd feel discomfort at all.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I've never heard that before. That's crazy.
It was like 92 and humid last weekend. It felt good, but I can't sleep in that heat. That's my only complaint.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I work in small stuffy little bathrooms all day so there is no point even thinking about relief
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I just don't go outside until ten pm when it "cools down" to 90.

That one works the best.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I just generally strip down to the bare essentials and keep myself wet with the hose.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
eat really spicy hot foods... ever wonder why the hottest cusine comes from tropical places like india, thailand, indonesia, south america? heats you up, you sweat, the sweat cools you off...
same for hot showers... followed by cold, followed by hot, followed by cold... shocks the system...
lots of water, like a gallon.
watermelon.
failing that a bag of ice on my sack :1orglaugh
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
mmmm watermelon... fans, lots of iced drinks... cool baths and showers... i sit around and wish i had a pool haha...
funny as i write this, its super nice and sunny outside, but im wearing my polar fleece PJ pants and a hoodie!! someone smack me...
im kindof dreading being pregnant thru the summer... ive heard its like having a little space heater inside you the WHOLE TIME *cries* but holding a baby is the same thing, which makes me glad im due in november :D
-
Re: How do you stay cool?

-
Re: How do you stay cool?

im glad were in a basement suite now hehee

Re: How do you stay cool?
I have the air conditioner on 68 so its frosty inside as far as outside if its hot its pooltime :) After a dip in the pool you freeze in the house feels like winter.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
in vancouver it get's hot enough to say "I think I'll go to the beach and take a quick dip cause it'll probably rain tomorrow" or at least it was like that 15 years ago
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
Run cold water over the insides of my wrists or use ice cubes. Have a cup of coffee. Stay very very hydrated. But in general I don't usually get too hot.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
i keep the curtains closed at all times it stays a constant 68 in side .andi have a fan runnin on low just too currcutlate the air a bit..if i go out in the day and its sunny i try not to were to much dark stuff ,drink lots of water r coffee ,warm water will help most peep lower the inner body temp, when cosumed ..and if its REALY hot i have this neck wrap ,that ya put in a cooler for about 10 mins ,its got little Gel type stuff in it ,they sweel up and hold in the cold from the ice (ice water works best )..and some of them last a long time...
They come in alot of diffrent styles, but they work well ...

Re: How do you stay cool?
Umm i'm completely nocturnal and I don't wear alot of clothes. so I'm usually nice and cold. :D
K
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
yeah... i forgot to add that one...
i wear clothes only when i have to. even in winter time when it's cold, i'd rathe just wrap a blanket around myself than wear pants... and socks are the worst.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
I'm nocturnal as well. Sleep all day in front of the air conditioner, as the summer wears on and the weather is warm and hot in the night, I just drink alot of sweet-tea [which is an amazing wonderdrug of not getting too hot in Southern Summers] and eat plenty of watermelon. Yum. ( ^_^ )

Re: How do you stay cool?
mmmm is sweet tea the same as nestea kindof? it sounds so much tastier!
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
airconditioning? I just returned from a visit up north and lots of places there had no airconditioning. WTF? I like being near the water in the summer, a pool, a lake, a river, a creek.....whatever. I will take a dip fully clothed if I don't have a swimsuit....even naked if I can get away with it! If there is no body of water around and I have to be outside, I tie a wet bandana around my head like a scarf, and drink something cold. Luckily, I am close to many mountain lakes and streams with icy cold water!!!!
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
hehee yeah getting drenched with all your clothes on works awesome... you stay cool for like an hour while your clothes dry!!

Nestea will -do- if you have nothing else, but no not really. The way that Granny makes sweet tea is to boil a small pot of water with two or three of those big [family size] tea-bags, and a little over a cup of sugar [two if you like it reeeeaaaalllll sweet, or have a big pitcher.] Boil it together until the suger dissolves, and the tea gets good and dark. Then dump it in a pitcher, add cold water to the top, and stick in the fridge to cool. Voila! Sweet Tea. ( ^_^ )

Re: How do you stay cool?
omg that sounds so tasty!! im gonna make that hehee :D
how many regular size tea bags do you think one of the family size tea bags equals out to be? is it just regular tea??

Mmm...Prolly about 4-5 regular size for a regular pitcher, 6-7 for a big one. [it need to be nice and dark and flavorful ( ^_^ ) And yeah, just regular tea, you can go buy some Lipton or Luzianne [namebrands leave a better aftertaste]. But I've also used Earl Grey, and raspberry which was also yummy. Regular caffinated teas [rather than herbal] work really well, I'd cut down on the suger if you decided to use an herbal, cause it would prolly not work the same.
-
Re: How do you stay cool?
mmmmmm im definitely gonna make some of that when im all done with moving :D
i think luzianne is only in the states... i saw that on the food network... but it looked incredibly tasty :D

Re: How do you stay cool?
for work in the kitchen, I have a few bandanas I soak and put in the freezer, then during the shift, wrap them about the neck to help keep a bit cooler, especially in the summer when the average temp in there is like 90+
